Re: May 2014 : Indian Car Sales Figures & Analysis

It looks like no one is waiting for budget.

If I am not wrong, there could be some sops for Auto industry.

IMO the sales in current month have been higher because of the fear of excise duty increase, which could have been an important factor playing in minds of customers, also prompted by SAs to complete the purchase before 1st July 2014.

Re: May 2014 : Indian Car Sales Figures & Analysis

Surely the Excise duty is pushing the sales. My parents were looking for a new car and finalised it in one day as the SA said it is the 'last' day for the discount.

AFAIK the the excise duty discount is extended. The sales should continue to roll depending on the budget.

The excise "scare" sure did pull in quite a few customers. Brilliant performance overall. MSIL and Nissan posting strong growth is encouraging.

Of particular interest is the performance by Honda (both cars and motorcycles) and Mahindra 2 wheelers. Year on year growth has been really strong. Bajaj Auto must be feeling the heat now!

Know that they dont stand anywhere but curious to know whats Fiat's sales for the month. Still slipped down or some signs of revival of fortunes. I dont know for which auspicious muhurat is Fiat waiting for the launch of Punto Facelift and Avventura.

Re: May 2014 : Indian Car Sales Figures & Analysis

I know I'm committing a sacrilege by posting June's sales stats before the official Team-BHP report. But this is for those like me, who are eagerly waiting for the numbers.

Source: http://management-punditz.blogspot.i...1_archive.html

Following are the figures for segment-wise market share over a period of last month, 3 months and 6 months. These numbers give a fair picture of each vehicles market share within its own segment and whether they are gaining or losing.

Segmentation might not be perfect but I have done it to the best of my knowledge. I have left out some vehicles that have negligible impact in overall market share. Have also highlighted (in yellow) top 10 sellers for each month over the past six months. Hope this is helpful.

Re: May 2014 : Indian Car Sales Figures & Analysis

It is tragic to note that despite the fairly decent refresh, Linea has managed only 156 units. Looks like more than its products, Fiat would have to work heavily on image-building which only could translate into better sales.

Re: May 2014 : Indian Car Sales Figures & Analysis

Disappointed to see Linea nos. They should bring 1.6L multijet. And I understand there are no discounts on the face lift version

Any clue why Ford Feista nos are missing?

Re: May 2014 : Indian Car Sales Figures & Analysis

Seems like Ford exhausted stocks of old Fiesta and in preparation for launching the refreshed Fiesta, there were no sales of the vehicle in Jun'14. In fact, Ford hasn't sold any Fiesta's since Jan'14.

In case I understood you wrong, that number 156 is the combined sales of Linea facelift and Linea classic!

I guess image building exercise will be futile with just two products in the market (even if older and newer versions are sold together, they still are the same product). Hopefully, Punto facelift and Avventura will attract more prospective customers to the showrooms or caffes, and some of them will go for Linea (something similar to what Ecosport did to Fiesta).
