2015 Audi TT spotted testing in Mumbai

The 2015 Audi TT has been testing in Mumbai.

The TT spotted here is the TFSI petrol variant and the more powerful TT-S, has also been spotted testing in India. The TT gets power from a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine producing 230 hp and 370 Nm of torque. The same engine on the TT-S makes 310 hp and 380 Nm of torque. Audi will also offer a diesel variant with a 2.0-liter TDI engine good for 184 hp and 380 Nm of torque. A 6-speed manual and DSG are the transmission choices in the new TT.

Based on VW’s MQB platform, Audi claims the new TT is up to 50 kg lighter than its predecessor. The sportscar also benefits from Audi’s new multipurpose instrument system which replaces the analogue instrument cluster with a large display supporting features such as navigation and music in addition to the tachometer and speedometer readouts.

The TT is a CBU product in India, and a launch is expected to happen by the end of this year or early next year.

Note the new design language.

Re: 2015 Audi TT spotted testing in Mumbai

The 2015 Audi TT has scored 4* overall on the Euro-NCAP (2015 rating):

The full test report is available as a pdf file:

http://euroncap.blob.core.windows.ne...-datasheet.pdf

One may ask, Why only four stars, instead of five? To be fair to the Audi, Euro-NCAP has raised its standards significantly in 2015. A new full frontal impact test has been added, the side impact is done with a larger object and the pole test is also done at a slightly higher speed at an angle now. Criteria for awarding 3, 4 & 5 stars on the Euro-NCAP 2015 have also been made more stringent. One can expect many more cars to score 4* on the test this year, thanks to the increase in standards. Both the other two cars (vans actually) that were in the first bunch to take the test along with the Audi TT, namely the Renault Trafic and Opel/Vauxhall Vivaro, managed to score only 3* on the Euro-NCAP 2015.

Quote:
ABOUT 2015 RATING

In 2015, a new full-width test is included and the total points for frontal impact protection are shared equally between this new test and the (unchanged) offset deformable impact. The side barrier test now uses a larger, heavier impactor and the side pole test is a tougher, oblique-angle impact. Both side impact tests make use of a new, more realistic dummy – WorldSID – to give a more accurate assessment of the protection provided in the tests.

There are no changes to Child Occupant Protection. The technical content of the Safety Assist section remains unchanged but the thresholds for three, four and five stars have all been raised. The pedestrian tests which used to assess the front edge of the bonnet now determine the protection offered to the upper part of the leg, at whatever location that corresponds to on the vehicle.

2015 assessments are significantly changed from previous years and star ratings should not be directly compared with earlier years.
