Is it just me or does it seem like the Accord has lost some of its subtlety.

Interesting to read about Honda planning to bring new Accord in India. I read somewhere in the thread about the fuel efficiency of Honda Petrol and is it really a matter of worry for a potential buyer. I would like to share my personal view and also a bit about my drive. I moved to an Accord about 6 years ago after driving three different Mercedes (2 petrol, 1 diesel) and must admit I found the Drive comfort on Accord to be absolutely the best. The leg room at the back (when you are being driven) is the best in class and beats German competition. When you are driving the 2.4CVT is a pleasure to drive and show good acceleration. The cabin is well insulated and keeps outside noise level to minimum. Incidentally, over the weekend, I walked into one of German brands showroom to check couple of their top end SUV and found that while the feature list was loaded to the gills, the inside space was not the same as Accord and I walked out of the showroom really soon, very disappointed.

My Accord is about 6 years old, done 60k and still does the job very well. Do I have any complaints - only one, the horrible ground clearance. I hope Honda fixes that in its new model. Will I still buy the new Accord when it launches next year? I would definitely consider it seriously, even if it has no diesel.

A good looking car no doubt. The rear resembles to BMW in many ways, specially the tail lamps. Overall Accord was a success in India. I think the only reason they discontinued it was because the Superb diesel was outselling it. I guess they will bring a diesel this time around or may face the same fate again. I'm also curious to know why they have no plans to bring the Civic back as well.

Dear Honda, If you read Team BHP, which I sure hope you do, then please make sure your release of the Honda Accord in India addresses the following - (1) Ground clearance (2) comfortable ride especially for the owner on the rear seat (3) Hybrid (4) don't cut out on the leg space - remember the new Skoda Superb is right round the corner if you can marry leg space with Honda's After Sales service you could have a lot of grateful customers (5) don't fit the seats too low like the A6 - a large number of folks who sit at the rear of a Rs 30L car are probably over 40 years of age. This is feedback from an existing Superb owner who is looking to switch in 2016.

While it is true that the last gen Accord was being outsold by the Superb due to the lack of a diesel engine, the market dynamics have changed now. The petrol/hybrid Camry is doing pretty well, even outselling the Superb in some months. I feel the Accord will be priced lower than the Camry (as it has always been) and has the potential to do well.

Besides, Honda has no plans of bringing the diesel here. Which is a shame, because a diesel CR-V would be very popular.

I really don't understand why Honda haven't introduced diesel in CR-V or have no plan to introduce Accord diesel when all their other diesel models are selling in good numbers.

Sir Honda won't make a special Accord for India. We will get what already exists. The legroom and seat height cannot be changed for India.
I think the previous generation Accord that sold in India was the most comfortable car sold in India and the new one remains as good is what i believe.

Re: Rumour: Honda India to reintroduce the Accord in 2015. EDIT: Coming in 2016

I think with diesel prices being deregulated, it wouldn't make it so attractive to plonk in a diesel into the Accord. People will be buying it for its features and not the FE.

My 2003 Accord returns more than 10kmpl in my office drives, it has a 2.3 litre engine. I expect the more advanced 2.4 litre unit to be better than that, so it should have a descent FE. Who needs a diesel in a car that will be driven for fifteen to twenty years on the roads, just to be belching out black smoke?

Too bling IMO. I like the present one better. Stylish yet subtle. Love it!

Is it the effect of the pollution awareness that all the petrol engines are suddenly coming into focus? Lol.

This one looks more futuristic in design and the proportions look similar to the earlier generation.

What about those headlights, are they matrix LED lights? Looks great IMHO.
