Let me clarify that I was not trying to compare possibly remapped new Tdi to an old GT Tdi. I dare not:D. I completely agree that older war heroes can not be compared to new soldiers. Both are equally important and have a role to play. In fact we must thank VW for offering a car which we can map and modify with lot of options !
Could someone post the prices of the Comfortline variants of the new Polo?please:
I think the TDI Comfortline might be the most popular variants as the only omission of importance(for some) is the absence of alloy wheels when compared with the Highline.
Unless you are seriously constrained with budget, please go for the highline. Its worth it in the long run :)
The Comfortline TDi is definitely going to be the most popular variant.
Does anyone have any pics of the all black interiors? Would be great if someone had some information regarding the different types of upholstery for the different variants.
Now waiting for team BHP official review.
Old TDi has evident turbolag. It seems that new one has a much better engine.May be fuel efficiency a bit lower than outgoing 3 cylinder one.

Yes, Comfortline definitely looks very good.
The sought after features which cannot be added aftermarket like all black interiors, ABS/ Airbags, Rear wash wipe, electrically adjustable ORVM etc. are all in there. And the best part, its just a remap away from the power output of a GT. :)
Check this post by rejoycjohn below to see some snaps of the all black interiors. The tacky looking silver finish on the dash is also avoided for the CL.

Page 18 of the brochure lists, under Exterior features, "Grey wedge at top section of windscreen". This is available only in Highline.
Can some one please explain this feature?
Cheers,
One feature that's glaringly missing are the Day time running lamps. I guess many speculated that it would make it to the facelift. Disappointed! Apart from that the new polo looks amazing. Can't wait to TD the new TDI. Being an owner of the old 1.2TDI, the reduced turbo lag, more power and low NVH are welcome. Also will miss the black colour option.
Strange that the 'Cross Polo' variation on VW website was still showing up yesterday with the old specs.
Maybe they will just sell the new GT TDI version with Cross Polo add-ons?
Cornering lights on the new Polo!

AFAIK, Cross Polo will be launched with the GT's end-Aug. Hence no site update on that as well.
@Kevin, Yes cornering lights have been discussed in this thread. They share space with the fog lamps below.

DRL's are "required" in European locales owing to the foggy conditions. But, in India, its just an cosmetic accessory given the weather and looks rather odd, just like in i20. Turbo lag will definitely be there until the you reach the threshold RPM from where the turbo kicks in, but looks like it'll be reduced greatly with the 4 pot engine.
Also, for those looking to getting the TDI remapped to match the GT TDI, it will be redundant effort as you'll lose warranty and will be saving just a couple of thousands given the cost of the remaps. Moreover, being a new engine, it will take some time before stable remaps are available.
What I am really disappointed with is the lack of electronic folding of side view mirrors. Was really hoping they had included it in the facelift. Anyone know if it can be custom fitted or something?

They can be. A member from the UK Polo forums (
link) has retrofitted them but it isn't worth the hassle. You need a pair of new mirrors (costing north of 40k when imported), additional wiring looms and connectors, the VW service center technicians wouldn't know what to do with these and the VCDS coding involved.
You are better off folding them manually. :)
