Revision in Rajasthan Road Tax (July 2014)

Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje revised Road Tax in state of Rajasthan in her Budget announcement on 14th July 2014. Some Significant changes (Private Four-Wheeler Vehicles) announced in Budget are as follows:

1. Base Tax Rate Revision:
  • Upto INR 3,00,000 : 4% (Earlier 2.5% upto INR 2.5L)
  • INR 3,00,000 - INR 6,00,000 : 6% + 10% Surcharge (Earlier 5% between INR 2.5L - INR 5.0L + Surcharge)
  • Above INR 6,00,000 : 8% + 10% Surcharge (Earlier 8% Above 5.0L + Surcharge)

2. Green Tax Rate Revision:
  • Upto 2,000CC : INR 1,000/- (Earlier INR 500)
  • Above 2,000CC with seating Capacity <= 5 : INR 1,000/- (Earlier INR 500)
  • Above 2,000CC with seating Capacity > 5 : INR 5,000/- (Earlier INR 500)

3. VAT on Used Vehicle Sale:
  • 2.5% of Used Car Sale Value. (Earlier it was fixed at INR 2,000 for unto 1000CC and INR 5,000 for above 1000CC)

It's sill far cheaper than any South Indian state.

I think it's about time we had uniform taxation nationwide.
