Ford announces global 'Innovate Mobility Series' challenge

Ford today announced the launch of its 'Innovate Mobility Challenge Series', inviting the developer and ‘maker’ communities to come together to find innovative mobility solutions in eight different locations around the world.

The worldwide challenges will kick off on July 15 in Lisbon, Portugal, Los Angeles, United States, and Mumbai, India, before moving on to Delhi and the Chennai region in India, Shanghai, China, Johannesburg, South Africa, and a countrywide challenge in Argentina.

Mumbai's challenge
With a months-long monsoon season that can leave transportation infrastructure crippled.
Out-app mother nature. Create software to improve mobility during the monsoon season in Mumbai.
Submission period: July 15 to October 14.

Delhi's challenge
The SUMURR Golden Hour Challenge will invite developers to create software applications leveraging information to decrease the time to get to care and increase information available for care to improve health outcomes within the critical “Golden Hour” after a traumatic incident.
Submission period: July 30 to October 30.

Chennai's challenge
The SUMURR mHealth Challenge will focus on leveraging information to extend health services for remote rural regions accessible from Chennai.
Submission period: July 30 to October 30.

Prizes

From 30K $ for first place, to 2.5K $ for the monsoon App.
Rest two region details are yet to be published.

Eligibility

Individuals.
Teams of eligible individuals.
Organizations (up to 50 employees)
Organizations with over 50 employees may compete for the non-cash Large Organization Recognition Award.

There are 8 different challenges thrown in at developers. Each challenge is specific to a region. For example, for Mumbai: the 'Monsoon App Downpour Challenge' is designed to improve mobility during the monsoons; for Delhi: the 'SUMURR Golden Hour Challenge' is designed to reduce the time to reach healthcare facilities during the 'Golden Hour'; and for Chennai: the 'SUMURR mHealth Challenge' focuses on improving healthcare service accessibility for remote rural regions that are accessible from Chennai.
