Re: SCOOP! 2016 Toyota Innova spotted testing in Bangalore. More pics on page 7 in the Indonesian market they have three airbags(D+P+knee) and ABS/EBD as standard across the range and the curtain/side aribags with some other stability feature in the top model. Hope they don't skimp on the additional airbags at least for the higher versions, especially since the prices are going to rise too, as also the expectation. But the inclusion of navigation and cruise control gives a hope that they have changed their attitude towards us.
But another news i have read from ACI is shocking to say the least.
ACI have said that the indian Innova Crysta would also get the 2.8l GD engine They have said its for the automatic model, which can be interpreted in three ways.
1. The 2.4l version already has a a 6speed A/T, the writer may have got it wrong.
2. It maybe limited to the top end model only as its said its coming only in the automatic version.
3. The 2.4 GD engine has two power, or rather torque outputs. A low powered one with 343nm and 5 speed and a high powered one 400nm one with 6 speed. Maybe he/she got confused with it.
If it IS true then looks real good as it means TKM is starting to get serious about the buyers here and maybe bad as it means the price tag is going real north(Thanks to Endy for limiting the price range rocketing. hehe)
Also the Innova would be more able to give justice to the power of the 2.8GD unlike the high CG Tfort, and able to put all the power on the road.
Another news is that like the rumours floating around TKM will give a petrol option on the Innova too, but it would not be the pedestrian 2.0l in SE market Innovas, but the 2.7l TR engine from the Prado and Hilux/Fortuner models.
