Re: New Toyota Fortuner caught on test in Thailand

Thanks karan for your spy pics.

Here are my observations on the Fortuner now:
- Strong kink in shoulder line at rear quarter class.
- Blacked out D pillar
- 245 80 18 inch alloy wheels
- wraparound tail lamps
- chrome garnish above number plate
- New Toyota 3 slat chrome front grille
- Touch screen infotainment system (maybe 7 inch)

Same alloy wheels as the recently launched Hilux. I am surprised, as TMC wanted to keep both the twins looking different from each other.

Karan you win, I loose.

?

I Think you've got the size wrong, the size should be 265/60 R18

It aint about winning or losing my friend, i would have also loved a different alloy wheel design. Lets see if that will be available as a option or not.

I say this because sometime back the Fortuner mule was spotted with this Alloy wheel design too;

Re: New Toyota Fortuner caught on test in Thailand

Can somebody make out if there are discs or drums at rear? I am not able to make out.

I remember we were having a discussion earlier about hood scoop being absent in news Fortuner/Hilux models. There is good new on that front. Even though hood scoop is not there for Thai spec Hilux it s found on export spec Hiluxes. So we can also expect it in India spec Fortuner.

I think the tyre markings have received a photoshop job. If you notice closely, you can see a faint blur applied to hide tyre size and brand.
Also the rear disc/drums have been blacked out. It's impossible to know if they are providing disc brakes to the new fortuner. It appears to be a very controlled and strategic leak.
Why would they want to hide tyre size and rear brakes?

New 2016 Toyota Fortuner SUV

Despite its tough underpinnings, the new Fortuner has a modern exterior that incorporates Toyota's – and some would say, Lexus' too - SUV styling elements.
The Fortuner will accommodate up to seven passengers in three rows of seats.

Jay, your source may be reliable but marketing plans change in real time. So expect this to change based on response trailblazer and new endy receive in market. Very few people in management are aware of plab A and plan B options planned by the top brass

Re: New Toyota Fortuner caught on test in Thailand

I would prefer the current generation over the 2016 model in terms of exterior design and profile.

I would like to see the new Fortuner in person before making a comment on the interior and exterior.

My reliable birdie also said the same thing. According to him Innova will come in Feb 2016 (likely launch date may be 16th Feb: Auto box confirmed). Fortuner will come sometime in the second half of 2016. But if Endeavor and Trailblazer can dent the sales of current Fortuner the TKM management might decide to advance the launch date to say March or April 2016.

He also said that in 2016 there won't be any other all new launches (in their speak it is called FMC: Full Model Change) except Innova and Fortuner. There is chance of All New Etios and Liva.

He said don't expect either Rush, Avanza or Vios/Yaris in 2016.:

Perhaps the delay may be because of upcoming diesel engine plant at Jigani in Karnataka to increase the localization levels and maximize profits (I have stopped expecting price cuts).

Regards.

Quite like the exterior pics of the new Fortuner. Looks like this beauty should provide the rough road tackling abilities in a much more elegant and handsome package(The current one looks hardcore butch IMO) Toyota might be taking inspiration from Lexus, but to my eye, the sleek tail-lamps look inspired from a fluidic Hyundai, in a good way of course! I'm not so sure about the interior though. It looks kinda dated already, especially with the new Endy's interior. Will reserve further comments until I see one in flesh.

Now that's a dampener. When do they plan to launch the Rush/Avanza? When they facelift the next gen?

The Etios news is welcome and expected, but what about the accompanying Vios?

Regarding the new Fortuner, looks quite good, but since the new Endeavour looks so good inside out, this has its job cut out.

Waiting for the Innova...
