Re: New Toyota Fortuner caught on test in Thailand

To put the India launch discussions to rest, Toyota is concentrating their efforts in launching Innova replacement first. The same is expected by March 2016, only after that they have plan of bringing new Fortuner to India.

As per now, their plan is to have India launch of new Fortuner in September 2016 only.

Specs, variants and pricing details are not finalized as of now. However, insider talk is that it will be expensive than the current version (an obvious thing).

Maybe they have some stupid laws like our country. Toyota might have Thailanded it for some excise benefits. This is what I can think of.

See, it learnt a trick from our desi manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra

Re: New Toyota Fortuner caught on test in Thailand

Probably will be OTR at 35L for the Top Engine AT 4X4.

Lovely interiors especially compared to the current model.

With the current model at 31 L the new one at 35L would seem worth it. But the current one is really over priced that is the problem.

The Last row still is the type that folds to the side rather than make for a flat floor bed loading bay area with the last two rows folded. That could have been better.

A lot of new and current features, better interior and exterior lights, lot of charging points, Paddle shifters, lots of leather all around and in a very nice colour, even the glossy brownish black plastic on the dash and doors looks very good.

The Exterior front is not to my taste but one can probably get to like it after seeing it for a long time but at first glance the India first gen and even the current one has a better looking front. But then most brands are using this kind of front look with headlights going on to the side and being narrowed down.

Overall should be a much much improved model, sadly the pricing is also likely to go up substantially. The current model still being sold in high numbers would be by buyers not aware of the leap the new model takes.

Re: New Toyota Fortuner caught on test in Thailand

I'm really not impressed with the new Fortuner. It's not the butch suv anymore that we all used to know. The exterior is bulky but not exactly sporty. It has some similarities with the current gen Pajero. That kink near the C-pillar reminds me of XUV's design cues. There is too much chrome in the front that will surely make its way in India. The interior, though better than that of current gen, is not something futuristic or radically modern. I really don't see any reason for it to wear 30L+ price tag. As a matter of fact, I'd rather pick the current one at good discount.

Last i checked the GC it was mentioned 225mm for the Australian Fortuner CHECK HERE

Could the variations in GC be due to full load and no load situation?

Fortuner & Endeavor spotted together in the wild;

IMO both the cars are great looking, but by the above pics to my eyes the Endy & the Fort are having equally imposing front look whereas the rear battle is won by Fortuner

Endeavour has a more balanced look overall. Fortuner does lose out on the rear end. The face of Fortuner has a mean look with some rice boy spoiling bits, but not too bad. Looks game for the competition. I think the front end of New Pajero Sport would be the best of the lot. But again, the rear end doesn't look as proportionate or balanced as that of Endeavour.

Rear end seems to be the toughest part for the designers of the latter two. Their previous generations were not so dis-proportionate though. I guess its when they try to make it better from their best, they become lost.

Both the cars were together for a comparo. Here's the link to it:http://community.headlightmag.com/in...?topic=45581.0.

Toyota's confidence on its product shows after looking at how it has priced the Fortuner in Thailand. It's priced exactly the same as the Ford Everest.
The Everest is a better car at least prima facie with more room, all round disc brakes and terrain management system. Not to forget the 20inch rim and the panoramic sunroof!
However the initial test done by Headlight shows that the pre production cars weren't niggle free. So that raises doubts about whether Ford will be able to iron out those niggles before production. With respect to that Toyota comes out a clear winner with deliveries starting the very next day of launch.

The Endeavor will have the upper hand as it will be launched in about 2 months from now.

But when Fortuner launches around Feb 2016 we all know the peoples brand is the Toyota no doubt. But with the recent success of the Ecosport, Ford may give a tough fight.
