Nope, These look like proper pick ups hence the HILUX.

The confusion must be because some should by single rest twin cabs

Re: New Toyota Fortuner caught on test in Thailand

To me they are all double cabin Hilux under the covers.

The first two covers reveal the door handles of the side two doors.

Re: New Toyota Fortuner caught on test in Thailand

I am very much surprised about how seriously Toyota wants to keep Hilux under wraps and don't want any photo leaks of the production vehicle.

Lets hope TMC brings a better variant to the middle east and not just the bare bone goods carrier!

Some official teasers by Toyota of the Hilux;

Cant wait for the launch of Hilux as it will clear the path for Fortuners release

Also i wouldn't mind this as the face of Fortuner too as IMO it looks pretty SOLD

Me too!😁
The Toyota Hilix launch will clear a lot of questions for us waiting for the Fortuner.

However I am a bit disappointed with the engine options. I am all in for downsizing but still they managed to get just 17bhp more from the 1GD FTV than the 2 GD FTV. If we look at the competition they all have higher torque and Bhp ratings. Eg Ford Everest,Chevy Trailblazer etc.
although the weight also matters.
Seriously hope the Fortuner is offered with a higher state of tune engine option.

Sorry to spoil your expectations on the similarities between Hilux and Fortuner, as this time TMC has made a deliberate effort to keep the twins looking different to each other and have no resemblance with each other.

Yes we know that by now

But what we mean is, currently Toyota is concentrating only on Hilux launch once that is done we will start getting such official teaser images of the upcoming Fortuner

Karan, you are absolutely correct. Traditionally Hilux has been the market and segment leader in the markets where ever its been sold and the likes of Ford Ranger and Mitsubishi L200/Sportero are trying to catch up with him.

GM/Chevrolet/Isuzu Colorado and Xenon are also running in the game to get some percentage of the share.

TMC has to keep its Hilux at least two steps ahead of the game and continue its strong hold as the leader and that's why the Hilux REVOlution is required.

South east asia to middle east, whole of Africa to south America and to Europe, government security forces to bad guys, Hilux is loved by all.

Even American special forces dumped their Humvees in favor of Hilux (4Cylinder) and then to Tacoma (V6) in Afghanistan.

Time has come to add some more space in and outside the Hilux and make it more upmarket by adding some comforts along with its "Indestructible" image.

I think TMC is trying to make the pickup more as a primary vehicle for the family and a load hauler as a second option. (FORD Ranger already upped the game)

Nice to see advance features in the Hilux.

Re: New Toyota Fortuner caught on test in Thailand

Inspite of owning 2 Toyota cars I think their pricing for Corolla has become outrageous and a rip off especially considering the sharp weakening of the yen, and higher profits translated into local currency. Just see their global profit statements.

I bought Corolla H4 AT (2002-08 model) in 2007 for 12. Two iterations later and none the better for it, it is now selling for 19-20. Expect similar outrageous pricing for any future Fortuner.
The main commodities involved in making a car (steel, plastics, fabrics, aluminium, etc) have been in a price slump since late-2011. Between Feb 2011 and April 2015, metals prices have slumped 43%, plastics is down substantially since late-2014, and cotton/synthetic fibres have been down 65% since the huge price spike of early-2011. Which costs are going up seems hard to understand.

At 19-20, I would seriously consider a used BMW 3/5.

See this:
http://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/da...2689dex991.htm

[SIZE=2][FONT=Times New Roman]Relevant extracts:
While net revenues increased by 1,542.6 billion yen, or 6.0%, to 27,234.5 billion yen in FY2015 compared with FY2014, operating income increased by 458.4 billion yen, or 20.0%, to 2,750.5 billion yen in FY2015 compared with FY2014. The factors contributing to an increase in operating income were cost reduction efforts of 280.0 billion yen, the effects of changes in exchange rates of 280.0 billion yen, and other factors of 128.4 billion yen.

This follows a huge 70% increase in FY2014 operating income (mainly operating profit before interest, depreciation, other income) also partly due to yen.

Re: New Toyota Fortuner caught on test in Thailand

I don't believe what's shown in the NEW HILUX photo.

How could the key hole on the wrong side of the steering? TMC cannot make a mistake like this!
