Re: New Toyota Fortuner caught on test in Thailand

Why did they miss out on a 2.8 litrer 4×4 MT?

But I am glad that we might get two to three colour options for the interiors.

My guess on the pricing:
Top end 4×4 AT will be close to 37 lakhs on road.

Note/request:
Can someone here help us to understand the Thai brochure?
Thanks!!

Top model cost 15,99,000 baht which equates to around 30 lakhs.
Why in the world have they not come up with a 4x4 MT? I think I should just go for the 2015 current model with a 4x4 MT. Will Toyota offer any discounts on the ongoing model as the new one is on the way to Indian markets?
If it does it will be a steal deal...

Hold your horses!
There are many takers for the 4X4 MT in India. Our market is a bit different from the Thai market. They never had a 4x4 M/T in Thailand where as in India we never had 4x4 A/T till Jan. I would suggest you to wait till december, as it is then when we will come to know the exact details.
Don't take any decision in a hurry. If at all you don't like the new Fortuner you will have the choice of the Chevy Trailblazer and Ford Everest. If you buy now you have just one option.

Re: New Toyota Fortuner caught on test in Thailand

The caradvice video posted by RavenAvi shows the Australian spec Fortuner with different interiors to those found in the Thai spec Fortuner. I hope and pray to God Toyota Bharat gives us the Thai spec interiors as they look leap and bounds better than the Ausie spec, and definitely look befitting to a 35 lakh SUV! The Australian spec has that utilitarian feel, like the current gen Fortuner.

I think they showed the Hilux interior not the Fortuner interior since they were not allowed to show that.

Re: New Toyota Fortuner caught on test in Thailand

No rear disc bakes
No rain sensing wiper
No Electrochromic mirror & 35+ OTR price?

I think Toyota should not wait till February to launch in India.

Re: New Toyota Fortuner caught on test in Thailand

Few random observations:

-This one is not going to be an all time 4 wheel drive (modes on the rotary switch are H2, H4 and L4)
-The top end version gets a lighter shade of tan.
-Front and rear under run plates look good.
-Surprising to see auto folding mirror as an accessory.
-Air compressor from Toyota.
-Reverse camara is not available in all trims.

Are you saying that because you see the H2 on the switch? Full Time 4x4 vehicles can be given the option to run in 2WD to save on mileage and wear and tear. The Pajero always gave this option, but Fortuner did not. Looks like they are offering it now which is good. Both Pajero and Forutner can be driven permanently with 4H if you want since it has an open center differential.

The option of H2 doesn't mean it is not 'all time 4 wheel drive'. It is just another option to switch to 2WD like the super select in Pajero sport.
The only difference is we had a manual lever but is now electronically engaged. Though most of us loved the manual lever.

how do you know reverse camera is not available in all trims?

I think ecosport rules is right. The australian press release mentions part time 4x4 system. Unless there is an error in the press release, I think they did away with the center differential. I hope this is not the case.

What's the tag line again? "New legend of the pride" ? 😁
Whatever happened to "The Art of Power".

On a different note, the 2.8 gives 177 ps and 450 Nm!!!! That's way above the current 169/343. Way to go. Only, Toyota should provide MT with 4x4. That will complete the lineup.

Drool over the 2016 Fortuner in white - a sight to behold!

Post the big reveal, the mighty T-Fort has been snapped at a Thai dealer's showroom floor for customers to get a first-hand experience of the mammoth SUV, which arrives on Indian shores sometime next year as a CKD unit.
