Zigwheels reports that Toyota India will introduce the all-new Fortuner in India by 2016-end.

The Fortuner will continue to be manufactured at Toyota's plant in Bangalore.

ZigWheels.com recently learnt that the Japanese car maker will only bring it to India towards the end of 2016.
Just like the current generation model, Toyota will continue to produce the 2016 Fortuner at its plant in Bangalore.
Toyota is currently in talks with vendors and is concentrating on localisation of the product prior to the launch next year. However, they are still to finalise as to how much of the car will be locally produced, keeping in mind Toyota’s global quality standards.

So ACI has also confirmed the Zigwheel news.

The next gen Fortuner will be launched only in 2017 due to further localisation needed and TKM is going to concentrate fully on the Innova during 2016.

So, looks like Ford will have a killing when it launches the next gen Endeavour during this year end (BTW, no promos yet?) Just hope, they don't get too ambitious and price it like they priced it in Australia.

2016 Sporty Fortuner as seen in Thailand market. Well, this is not due in India for another year :(

Fiar Design have introduced their bodykit for the 2016 Toyota Fortuner which went on sale in Thailand in July this year. The design house has introduced an add-on chin for the front and rear bumper, complete with chrome exhaust tips, side steps and matte-black alloy wheels.

Based on a new ladder-frame chassis, the 2016 Toyota Fortuner gets added safety features in the form of 7 airbags, VSC, Hill Hold, Trailer Sway control, Hill Descend control in addition to ABS and EBD. Other features include LED projector headlights, 18-inch alloy wheels, smart entry with push button start, a touchscreen Bluetooth-enabled music system, leather seats, an electric tailgate, electric adjustment for the driver’s seats, and two driving modes (Power and Eco)

The 2016 Toyota Fortuner is not expected to launch in India for at least another year, Mr. Jaishankar, Deputy Managing Director of Toyota Kirloskar Motor confirmed to Indian Autos Blog. Reports state that TKM is working with vendors to increase parts localisation for the SUV, and also plans to manufacture the 2.4- and 2.8-litre GD diesel engines at an upcoming plant in Jigani, Karnataka

Hope they display this new Fortuner in the Auto expo along with the new Innova which seems very much likely.

Further localization? Is Toyota planning to launch this almost at the same price point as that of the current Fortuner? or may be a marginal premium for the top end variant? I know this is day dreaming considering its a Toyota

The Toyota dealer I am in touch with has advised me that the new Fortuner would now be sold on/about July 2016...

This does not correspond with media stories, which state that the vehicle will be available only in 2017.

Anyone else been given similar information for this earlier date?

The All New Toyota Fortuner Indonesia!

the Fortuner line-ups will be rearrange, as the 4×2 Diesel TRD Sportivo M/T will become the Fortuner VRZ M/T, then the 4×2 Diesel G will remain the same with AT and MT choices. While the 4×2 Gasoline TRD Sportivo A/T will become the Fortuner SRZ A.T, while the G Luxury gasoline variant will be discontinued.

Continuing to the Diesel engine, the 4×4 DIesel from All New Fortuner still available with a new name Fortuner VRZ A/T, while the 4×4 Diesel G A.T will stem.remain the same. In All New Fortuner, there will be no Gasoline engine variant fitted wit 4×4 system

The safety features as standard, Fortuner is equipped with 3 airbags, but for the VRZ 4×4 will have 7 airbags in total. Other exclusive safety features available in the VRZ version are hill assist control, emergency brake signal and trail sway control. How about stability control? surely if it equipped in Innova Q, it should become standard in the new Fortuner.

What do you expect? Even the old Fortuner had rear differential lock in some countries like South Africa, but it was deleted for India.

But unlike Australia/South Africa, our Fortuner buyer demographic is hardly warming up to 4x4, let alone appreciate how much essential the diff lock becomes when you are stuck especially with the weight of these things. So Toyota might get away with charging for it but not offering it!

I agree, when they are charging extra money for 4x4 variant, charge a little extra and offer the diff lock as well.

Latin NCAP, the premier crash testing agency for Latin American countries conducted an audit crash test on the new Toyota Fortuner – the sister car to the Hilux pick-up – to see if it offered comparable levels of safety. Essentially, the Fortuner, also known as the Hilux SW4, is a SUV based on the Hilux pick-up truck.

In an earlier round of testing conducted in December, Latin NCAP had rated the Argentinian-spec Hilux as having met all its requirements along with an admirable performance in the crash tests, resulting in a score of 5 stars in both adult and child occupant protection.

IAB & ET are both reporting that the all-new Toyota Fortuner is scheduled to be launched during Diwali 2016, for a price of Rs. 28 lakhs.
