The point is that the Renegade is small alright, but it is as small as a Yeti and will be directly competing with that. The new CUV and Renegage will be pretty close to each other. No way Fiat Chrysler is going to price the Renegade at below 15L

I know it's the size of the Yeti, but I doubt if it'll be of similar quality. You may not even see the 4wd, forget Trailhawk in India.
If it's priced in the range of 25L, we already know how successful Yeti is in India.

Re: *Rumour* - Fiat CUV with 1.5L Diesel in 2016

A Compact/ SUV is now confirmed from Fiat and will not be from JEEP! ( Read as Duster/ Creta/ Vitara Brezza competition in India)

This will be in 2018 and matching to the news of the compact for India too! Likely to be sold in Brazil and more countries.

I guess it was a typographical error, but that's what Fiat gone in India.

That's maybe prudent from one angle - not to be from Jeep considering the segment and pricing. Fiat though does not have much of a reputation here, in terms of service etc, so I wonder whether it is prudent from the other angle. Only time will tell.
I just hope India will not get a stripped down, tin can "Made for India' version with lots of ribbons and frills - and will get a fully equal to the Brazil version. But... I fear my hopes will be in vain.

Re: *Rumour* - Fiat CUV with 1.5L Diesel in 2016

More news on the Fiat Crossover ( B-CUV)!

Fiat will have its version of crossover Jeep Renegade in Brazil (for India too). That tends to answer why the spied Renegades are seen testing in Indian roads!

Quote:
Although Jeep is having success with the Renegade in the Brazilian market, the Fiat (which also belongs to the FCA) is also interested in the crossover segment in the country. The Italian carmaker plans to launch its version of the Jeep Renegade, with cheaper price, new name and your logo stamped on the front grille.
Quote:
the new crossover of Fiat can be offered with prices of around 70000 R$.

If no 4WD and no Trailhawk then even existing Yeti owners won't think of this as an upgrade.
The consuming public won't pay such a large price as say 30-32 lacs on road, for a Quasi SUV even though it may be a Jeep, unless it comes with all the famous Jeep stuff. At least, the enthusiasts won't buy.

Exactly , that's the reason why it has to be and I'm sure it will be priced in the range of 12-15lakhs for the base, as they have enough time to localize and produce from Ranjangaon.

Bigger size, with sufficient engine with no true jeep hardware at 10-12 lakhs will see some numbers. See how many Ecosports, Dusters, Brezas, Cretas are being sold. 5% of this (close to 28k units) sold will be a good start for a company that is selling only 500 units in total.

But one thing will be for sure, enthusiasts wont even touch it.

Guys - As of now it is speculated that Jeep Renegade will not be launched in India - a derivative(much cheaper) of it in the' Fiat brand' a CUV to take on the likes of Duster/EcoSport/ Creta is what can be expected from Fiat catering to a global market ( Brazil, India, etc.)

Re: *Rumour* - Fiat CUV with 1.5L Diesel in 2016

Jeep's C -SUV coming in 2017.

1. Will be assembled in India, they plan to invest approximately Rs 1,768 crore to produce the C-SUV in their Ranjangaon plant and production is expected to commence in the first half of 2017.

2. To be a segement Renegade in Global markets. India pricing is expected to start in the 20+ lakh range rivaling Tucson, the CR-V and the Fortuner and Endeavour too.

3. Apart from India the manufacturing locations will be Italy, Brazil and China.India could export to some RHD markets too.

4.. Power -Under the hood, it will get a Fiat sourced but largely localised, 2.0-litre Multijet II diesel which produces 172hp. This version is expected to get 4WD, keeping with the brands legendary off-road reputation. Also expect a downsized version of the international 1.6-litre Multijet diesel engine to make it here, whose power output is expected to stand between 105hp and 120hp. This version may get a front-wheel drivetrain.

Re: *Rumour* - Fiat CUV with 1.5L Diesel in 2016

Jeep confirms EcoSport rival at Paris.
All-new small Jeep likely to be a sub-four-metre vehicle. It will be one of the future models that will be sold in India and will be manufactured at Fiat’s Ranjangaon facility, just like the Compass.

This new small SUV (codenamed Jeep MG or Jeep 526) is based on the Fiat X6H platform which is an evolution of the original 326 architecture that underpins many models on sale globally.

Quote:
The SUV will be first shown next year and will likely be manufactured at Fiat’s Betim plant in Brazil. It will be sold in South America initially. Style-wise, the new Jeep MG will get more of a square or boxy look, just like the Renegade
