re: Hyundai ix25 Compact SUV caught testing in India. EDIT: Named the Creta

"..In the side impact test, a deformable barrier was driven into the centre of the car at a speed of around 51 km/h. Here too, the ix 25 excelled and scored a full 18/18. The whiplash test also saw the Nissan Terrano rival come away with full marks.."

dayum. If the Indian ix25 has thee same safety AND Hyundai manages to price it competitively then I am turning a Hyundai fanboy !

Another hotly baked product from Hyundai. Looks stunning, has powerful engines and is very safe, the days of Duster/Ecosport are short...

re: Hyundai ix25 Compact SUV caught testing in India. EDIT: Named the Creta

It's wonderful to see the ix25 score 5* on the C-NCAP 2015!

However, one must note that C-NCAP's criteria for awarding stars are not as stringent as those of Euro-NCAP. It's more like Latin-NCAP or Global-NCAP, I guess. For a car to achieve a 5* (2015) rating on the Euro-NCAP or A-NCAP (Australia), it certainly needs to have thorax and head airbags. However, the frontal offset test (40% offset crash at a speed of 64 kmph) is the same across all NCAPs, and it is good to see the ix25 perform well in this test.

I hope Hyundai India give us a car that's at least as safe as the Chinese market version. And that means giving us the same structure with 2 airbags as a standard feature! They can also provide side and curtain airbags on the higher variants, as the Ford EcoSport already has them.

I hope they launch both petrol & diesel engines with a choice of either manual or automatic gearboxes (preferably 6-speed units) for both fuel options. If positioned correctly, this could be the next big success for Hyundai.

Look above the rear license plate - I see a reverse camera peeking out there.

Man i cant wait for the ix25. I hope they give an AT version with diesel. Most car manufacturers only provide AT with petrol variants only. Hope there is an announcement in Feburary at the very least.

Also i dont understand why dont these manufacturers use the new auto transmission system which came with the cellerio. Its actually a manual system with a chip to auto change gears. This should be standard now instead of manual.

Thanks, I could see now.

If they offer AT on diesel, I would certainly replace my duster.

The Hyundai ix25 and the i20 Cross have been spotted testing on the night streets of Chennai by the guys at NDTV Auto.

Though camouflaged, the spy shots reveal some interesting details about the cars.
The i20 crossover, though based on the premium hatchback, manages to look like a proper crossover and not just an extended hatchback. The vehicle's height and ground clearance have been increased to give it a pseudo-SUV like stance and will also help the car handle uneven roads and potholes with ease. It also gets bigger alloy wheels than its hatchback sibling, additional body cladding and more aggressive front and rear profiles.

Talking about the ix25 compact SUV, it will be above 4 metre in length and will rival against the likes of Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano and the upcoming Maruti SX4 S-Cross. The spotted picture reveals that the ix25 will have five-spoke alloy wheels, roof rails and good ground clearance.

Rear seat seems to fold 60:40 based on the open boot picture. I can see a clear separation on the seat backs.

Motorbeam reports that the Hyundai ix25 will be launched by October 2015.

Quote:
Hyundai India has confirmed that the new i20 based crossover spotted testing on a number of occasions will be launched in April this year, while the ix25 compact SUV will be launched in the second half of 2015 around the festive season. Both the models are extremely important for the South Korean automaker who has plans to ride the momentum gained last year into 2015 as well.

Better one always comes later. I hate these crossover "cross-breeds". Why don't they do away with this useless body type and launh a mini-SUV? And like Hyundai, Maruti too is planning to launch that stupid crossover first and then the real mini-SUV XA Alpha some more years later, that is if they ever.

The holes in rear camouflage shows this one to have parking sensors as well as a reverse camera. The headlights have projectors. This could be the top end. I wonder why will it take more than 6 months to launch it when the vehicle is ready?

Also i can see the DRL's. So its definetly the top end variant. I hope this comes out before may. October is too long. Why are they losing so many sales in this segment?
