Probably they are buying more time for testing the components which are localized. If they rush without proper testing they my loose the entire plot for India's compact SUV market. Earlier news suggested April/May launch, but now it's moving all the way to Diwali

I am also waiting for this vehicle to get launch at the earliest. They may want to test the vehicle thoroughly before launching because it's their first vehicle in this segment and don't want miss the bulls eye.

Second image seems to be that of the Elite i20 Cross, and not the ix25.

Somehow the tyres looks a bit skinny. And yes even I would say that the second image looks like i20 cross.

+1 And it looks like I20 Cross though I can see the IX25 badging!

re: Hyundai ix25 Compact SUV caught testing in India. EDIT: Named the Creta

Hi,

I agree with most people's predictions on the pricing for the ix25. After all Hyundai can't plan to launch a global SUV if it doesn't address the largest SUV "class" in India which is in the Rs 7.5 to 13 L range. This is where the volumes are!

I've also never understood the logic of non-luxury, car manufacturers who tend to price a new offering slightly higher than the rest of the segment. They seem to want to sacrifice volumes for a "premium" image not realising that the volumes at lower prices would help them make a greater profit.

Cheers!

A little birdy told me the ix25 is currently undergo massive road tests. It will be launched in Q2 of 2015 and the specs will be locked in a month's time, and thereafter test production will begin. It will be completely built at the Chennai plant to ensure the costs are low.

Dont know yet. Most probably it will. Also with the prices between diesel and petrol coming closer day by day. I would be getting the Petrol Automatic. It will definetly come 1L cheaper. Also less maintanence.

Me too in line for petrol automatic compact SUV. Had high hopes with Ecosport but disappointed with pricing, under-featuring, and waiting. Hope though that Hyundai will not give us the stone-age 4-speed AT box. These days, anything less than 6-speed is no no.

What? No rear independent suspension? A torsion beam (aka bullock kart) suspension is a deal breaker for me.

Hope they get a AWD automatic version with all safety features like 6 airbags, ESP,TC EBD etc.

BTW only the AWD version will have independent rear suspension.

I guess your observation is based on the ix25 pics available on auto163.com. If so you may be wrong because those pictures were shot on a 1.6DLX 2WD AT variant. There is a 4WD variant as well on ix25.

I see no reason why Hyundai should not offer independent suspension with 4WD, when their prime competitor (read Duster) is already offering multi link suspension. Kia cross over based on ix25 is offering Independant suspension, which means design is already in place. If Hyundai skips it, they have to price much lower than Duster and also they can't call ix25 is a premium product.
