Ford recalls 3072 units of the Fiesta Classic TDCi

Ford India has announced a recall of the previous-gen Fiesta Classic 1.4L TDCi to correct a technical issue. 3072 diesel Fiesta Classics manufactured between October 2010 and December 2011 will be recalled to install a new design waterproof 'Glow Plug Control Module'.

Ford will be writing to customers directly, who will have to visit their local Ford dealers and get the replacement part installed free of charge.

In 2012, Ford had recalled 1.28 lakh units and in 2013, 1.66 lakh units of the Figo & Classic for issues relating to the suspension and power steering. In 2013, the EcoSport was recalled due to the positioning of the Glow Plug Control Module.

re: Ford recalls 3072 units of the Fiesta Classic TDCi

Is this the new Fiesta or the old Fiesta classic TDCi?

Did they even sell 3,000 Fiesta's in India?

^ Vid, this has to be the new Fiesta. In all it's official communication, the old Fiesta is referred to as the 'Classic'.

Yep, they've sold well over 3K Fiestas since the time of original launch.

Don't know whether to appreciate them for their proactive recalls or criticize their lack of product testing. They faced issues with glow-plug in Ecosport and rectified it. How could another issue with the same equipment happen again?

Every recall dents the consumer confidence and that's the last thing that they would wish for, in a competitive market like India.

Don't know how you do it Vid, but as is usually the case, you are right

The recall is indeed for the Fiesta Classic. Confirmed with Ford. We've added a representative picture of the car to make things clearer and also updated the news item.

Smart of Ford to release this on a Friday evening. That way, it's already old news by the time that everyone is back on their desks on Monday.
