Sorry but I feel the comparison of XA Alpha and Jipsy/Jimny are really far stretched.

As far as design goes, my personal opinion is it looks promising and could give a tough fight to Eco sport - provided it comes with a good build quality, but the launch seems to be in 2016- that's pretty far away.

Right. And MSIL is developing 1.5 ltr diesel engine to take this advantage of sub 4 mtr rule in India. Report here.. So, we can expect the same engine in YBA as well, may be as optional.

Maruti is really stretching their compact SUV/hatchback segment! XA Alpha, S-Cross and YRA hatch, all seems to be back to back in the portfolio!

Finally some choices coming into the market! I sure hope others jump on the bandwagon too and please produce some station wagons as well....I am not a fan of CUVs, but count me in for a station wagon

Nice, I just hope they carry over at least 50% of the design principles of the concept. It would be an awesome looking car. Yes, the engine is a question mark, but if I have to bet on any maker in India for doing this right, it would be MSIL. My reasons are pretty simple when they wanted to break the premium hatch, they trumped. Ditto for rehashing their compact and even their flagging c segment sedan. I see a new vigor and I like it. Fingers crossed!

The front grill seems to be different from the earlier spy shot.

BTW, I guess Team Gaadiwaadi had the un-camouflaged image, and they just added some camo. See the marked area. Also, their rendering is very similar to the new picture.

Design of YBA will have some design cues from the New Vitara - like the lower portion of the front grill.

More diesel 1.3L vehicles sent to Japan. No Petrol model on offer?

Does this mean that Maruti is readying the production line for YBA (XA-Alpha)?

They would do well to put the spare in the boot. It's neither good-looking on a sub-4m car nor practical (esp. for people who can't lift and hold a heavy wheel 4-5 feet).

Even the Ecosport looks much better without the rear-mounted spare (in the facelift pics posted on a rumor thread). Much more mature than the loud, wannabe-SUV stance it exudes currently.

YBA gets rendered, now with spare wheel on tailgate. Design as expected stays close to the New Vitara.

....

Now, that's a beautiful looking "SUV". What worked for Ford will work immensely for this car too. If the same car is launched, I would see a 6 month waiting period on the day of launch! clap:

A little curvy lines and it looks like a swift with a vertical boot and a spare tyre mounted :p

And that is why they are called crossovers :D I believe a lot of upcoming cars from maruti are based on Swift's design. It has become easier for car manufacturing companies to spend lesser in R&D and produce similar looking vehicle with different dimensions and different sized engines to enter segments like crossovers, compact sedan, compact muv, compact sub sedan, B2+ hatch etc.. etc.. by using all possible naming conventions. :banghead:
