Re: The Indian Taxi Revolution - Uber, Ola, TaxiforSure, Meru etc.

Hi Folks,
I am looking for something of the sorts of "Guaranteed on time" Cab facility especially for airport and railway station trips.

Off late, I am seeing lot of instances where Ola, Meru drivers refuse to come even after they are allocated for the trip.
This causes last minute panic situations. And I end up using ride now option, in which many of the times taxi taken 15-20 mins more time to come.

Are there any such guarantee wala taxis in Bangalore?

I asked for something similar on the last page - http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/indian...ml#post3977508

I would gladly pay extra for this. The prebooking companies actually only start looking for a cab 25 minutes prior to your booked time because no cabbie knows where he will be in advance.

Uber finally seems to have owned it's space at Bangalore airport.

Called U Zone, the area is located at P2.

Fares from the airport:
Rs 8/km and Rs 1/min
Rs 120 towards toll
Rs 180 base fare

Just wanted to check with people who frequently use taxis from the airport to Bangalore city. Which is the cheapest ride you have got - Ola, Uber or Airport taxi (Meru)?

Thanks for the advice.
However, sadly, on opening Saavari's website, the following message pops up.
Quote:
Sorry, we have discontinued Airport Transfers. This is necessary as a part of change strategy to consolidate our position as India's largest outstation player and to offer our customer best experience both for outstation trips and local 8 hour packages that we offer.

Im wondering about these App Taxi drivers using the mobile while driving. Also most of their app phones are in mounts which are more distracting to use. Im sure they will deny using the phone on the move

The Indian Taxi Revolution - Uber, Ola, TaxiforSure, Meru etc.

Ola charges state tax for rides within Delhi? I have used UBER on same route and they never charged me any state tax.

No one talks on the phone while driving - at least hundreds of rides on Ola and Uber (and Meru and others older generation "radio taxis" too) has confirmed this. I am sure there is a basic training these guys receive and the biggest blunder they could create is to talk on phone while driving, getting negative reviews from the customer.

Most of the guys never even glance at their phones while the journey is on. Yes they do check it regularly - at red lights etc - because the phone network connectivity in India is so poor that sometimes it disconnects (which sometimes "ends the journey" on the system).

But I have never seen any of these driver getting distracted by the phone.

Re: The Indian Taxi Revolution - Uber, Ola, TaxiforSure, Meru etc.

Little off topic here -

When in those cab aggregator taxis, who is supposed to pay the toll while coming from Bangalore Airport to city?

Earlier this month, I took an Ola and the driver asked me to pay the Rs 120 toll fees. While on a Uber, the driver himself paid it.

Fordday.
