Re: Maruti Suzuki recalls 3796 units of Ciaz to fix faulty clutch

Recalls are usually double edged sword. Owners might be happy but prospective buyers will think twice before investing time and money on it. Especially for a new product, recall will surely affect the sales number as people are worried their products dont end up as test subject.

Oh. Very nice. Nice to hear the seriousness of MSIL in getting the replacement done ASAP. So no worries for all those who got it early.

Hi prabhu, going by my experience, if a company recalls any product, it is a double assurance of the fact that company cares for its customers and will be available post sale also. Known issues will be immediately addressed by mass mailers and various advertisement. Good that the company is coming forward with these shortcomings and the solutions. Chevrolet did go for recall only after the Pollution issue was out in open and Government of India was on its head. The recall factor is pretty much in practice in Americas and Europe. In india there are manufacturers who will keep on selling lemons to customers and will improve upon the products only after many complaints, some accidents, multiple failures get reported. Then also they will never acknowledge the defect in products. Last example is of TATA Nano catching fire due to some defective wiring.

Any aware customer will defintely take the recall from manufacturer as a positve gesture rather than being worried about product quality.

Add to that the time taken for bleeding.

Just my two-cents.
I thought it was the other way round. That is because the Slave cylinder is located along with the clutch release bearing and that requires the gearbox to be lowered and related work, as good as a clutch overhaul labour. The MC on the other hand is not located in such a location and hence is simpler to replace.
