Re: Tata Tiago-based compact sedan. EDIT: Unveiled at the Auto Expo 2016!

Looks like a crouching, tail between legs dog ! Honestly, it looks better camouflaged.

The Tiago so much better and this again reminds the older Zest. So Tata are not still not out of their hangover designs.

This is the fully loaded, top-of-the-line, XZ variant.

50 cars (all XZ variants) have been made for the Media Drive, which is scheduled for a end-Jan 2017 date (possibly shortly after the Hexa launch).

Instrument cluster is the same as the Tiago.

The central console sees the addition of an Automatic Climate Control unit, which will display current cabin temperature too.

Interior pics coming up very, very soon.

(A big thank you to my birdies for sharing this)
Hi RavenAvi,

Are you sure you are allowed to share these pictures on a public forum? Has the person, who has clicked/shared this pictures with you, the authority or taken the permission from the company to publish these pictures?

While I am very happy to see these pictures (I am sure, we all are) but I am concerned about the above. I say this because many of us have friends/contacts in various OEM companies. I keep getting inputs and outputs about two leading auto manufacturers of India during with my regular conversation with my contacts. But on most occasions, I am clearly asked to keep it to myself. I have followed the same.

Regards,
Ashis

Looks like the rear has taken inspiration from Aspire - however not as well integrated as the Ford notchback. It looks classy in Aspire but decidedly garish here.

Re: Tata Tiago-based compact sedan. EDIT: Unveiled at the Auto Expo 2016!

Looks chic! Another successful car along with the tiago. Well proportionate design.

But that hideous chrome strip on the boot. Why Tata, why? Also, the tyres look like 165 section and are too small for the car. It would have been better if it carried 175 section tyres.

I dont find any similarity with the zest though it vaguely resembles Nissan Sunny's silhouette(i did squint my eyes a little ).
And I guess this is going to be the last nail on Zest's coffin.

Re: Tata Tiago-based compact sedan. EDIT: Unveiled at the Auto Expo 2016!

When they first teased us with this picture, I had different expectations altogether from this car:

Tata Tiago-based compact sedan. EDIT: Tigor launched at Rs 4.7 lakhs-kite-5.jpg

But then, I forgot that it's still a sub 4 meter car so bound to look disproportionate.

Can't blame Tata. I should blame the genius who brought this "sub 4 meter compact sedan" concept in India.
Oh wait, that was Tata only.

They must offer this car with better engines than the Tiago. Otherwise, the hatchback looks even more desirable.

I see the test mules almost everyday on Katraj by-pass of NH4. One major difference is that, dimensions-wise this car is smaller than the Zest, In fact, it is smaller than all the Sub 4 meter sedans out there. Compare the size of the Bolt to the Tiago and you will have a clear picture. Its going to be a little difficult for 3 people sitting abreast in the rear seat.
The height is taller than the ones showed in Auto-expo because of the raised suspension (compare the pictures), so its a little bit of an eyesore.

Look like a BMW X6 from the side profile if it is given a raised suspension and bigger tyres.

Zest is built on different platform all together with different proportions.

It will logically and physically replace the TATA Indigo CS (Compact Sedan) for private customer.
TATA Indigo CS most probably will continue in TAXI Segment.
Has 3 cylinder engine instead of 4 cylinder engine. (Both Petrol and Diesel) of Zest.
Has 420 Liter boot (Segment Topper)
Better Fit and Finish in both exterior and interior than TATA Indigo and all other previous TATA Cars.
Better Handler than TATA Indigo CS.
Better Fuel Economy than TATA India CS.
It will be placed below TATA Zest segment on price (On Road Price)

+1 Sir.
I have not liked the looks of this car. Infact very odd looking rear with skinny tyres. I may sound alien here, after looking at this pic, I have started liking the side profiles of Xcent & Amaze in CS segment.

I hope Tata Motors refine the Tiago's petrol engine and reduce the noise levels before the launch.
Tiago petrol engines are opening up nicely post the running in and oil changes.
However improvements are always welcome.

I also spotted couple of them yesterday at Delhi Gurgaon highway.
Production ready pictures looks really neat, I hope they price it correctly.
I don't know if it's just me but I got X6 rolling in my mind from its side view

Re: Tata Tiago-based compact sedan. EDIT: Unveiled at the Auto Expo 2016!

I am in favour of the deisgn. The boot (not a lot of it, apparently) seems like an integral part of the car. IMHO, best execution of the sub4m with design cues from BMW x4 and GT lines. Especially the concept pictures looked very similar to the X4 and we have to wait for official pics to see how well TATA managed to stick to 'Coupe' design theme.

Toyota did an amazing job with taking this theme to the new crossover (C-HR). In some perspective, I think we will be happy to have the sub 4m sedan design trend merging with small crossovers.
Tata Tiago-based compact sedan. EDIT: Tigor launched at Rs 4.7 lakhs-toyotachr8624x416.jpg

Though the cars are totally different themed, the basic proportions remain same. Toyota design just seems to be on Steroids, while TATA is more reserved. Not to forget that the new Civic is also more of a Sub4m sedan design. May be Honda and Toyota will study the response and be persuaded to consider similar designs here.

Thank you for the pictures, but am sure one of the birds will either be caged or shot. This is a pretty serious leak. I don't see why TATA would plant it, since it is too late in product development to incorporate any design improvements at this stage. They wouldn't want to mess with Tiago potentials with this leak, I think.

Re: Tata Tiago-based compact sedan. EDIT: Unveiled at the Auto Expo 2016!

This brownish shade looks great, nice to differentiate from Hatchback.
Look at that TATA logo at back, it seems to be a real tight fit on that boot lid.
Does it only have one reverse lamp?

From pictures it seems to be sitting higher than TIAGO and wearing 15 inch shoes.
And this is going to be a difficult car to park/reverse.
Look at the rear windscreen, TATA should offer sensors as well along with camera.

Apologies for the late reply. Been a really busy birthday.

Re: Tata Tiago-based compact sedan. EDIT: Unveiled at the Auto Expo 2016!

Thanks RavenAvi for the scoop.

Looks terrible IMO. A big disappointment after being hyped up by what was shown at the Expo. They should have extended the C pillar further and made this a spacious hatchback instead (better to phase out Bolt than Zest). The wheel well gap makes things worse.
