I would definitely push the price to 33 on Road if possible. But that would be ambitious. Like I said the car is in pristine condition ! |

Stretch him till 30ish I would say. 7k is not a small number on the Odometer. To put things into perspective, I got a Volvo S80 D5 showroom piece for 41L on road with extended warranty, rear seat entertainment. The car had only done 100 kms since it was a display car only. I think the list price of the same was around 60L I think. |
Thank you all for your suggestions on Test drive/demo cars. I checked the vehicle in person today. Overall, the vehicle is in good condition with few scratches/dent in front bumper and on the left side door. I also found steering leather was slightly torn out and the vehicle is about to clock 8k km. They will deliver the vehicle after performing 1st service and after which I will have service schedules at every 12k kms. They mentioned 33.5 lacs on road and pressing hard to sell at that price. Considering the fact that the vehicle will get into workshop to fix all the dents and interior rework plus a 2017 model to be purchased in 2018, I feel it's not worth spending anything beyond 28/29 lacs. Please let me know your views

What's the ex-showroom price?
Personally, I think these prices are quite high for a TD vehicle that would have seen a fair share of abuse - cold starts and redlining, multiple short drives, crashing into potholes, etc.
Shop around, speak to dealers in other cities and see what deals are available on a new car / S60 CC.
You may save 5-6L, but you'll have a brand new car which may just hold better value in the longer run.
IMHO stay away from TD cars, esp one thats done 8K already. 8 K on a TD car will be equivalent to nearly 25K of running on a self owned car (just my hyppothesis, no scientific basis for this deduction). So I would bargain real hard and look at this as a pre owned purchase and negotiate accordingly. volvos are depreciation disasters so if you really really want this car, dont pay a dime more than 25L. For 30 odd L there are plenty of good options in the market. Heck, my friend just bought a spanking new X1 for 30.xx in NCR.

I might have the only Petrol CC from chennai. I think you should squeeze these guys even more. Rule of thumb, calculate depreciation for 1 year and and discount it by another 15%. that should be the price you should be looking at. if you are ending up with something in the vicinity of 29-30 it would be a good deal. Not too sure of 33 is a good deal for a 7k run vehicle.
Just took delivery of MY2018 V40 Cross country yesterday. Paid for a tyre swap (factory standard 18' to 17'). My family loves the car. Will keep the thread updated with my experiences of the brand. Don't have any plans for a separate thread as of now (this is not my daily driver).
Special thanks to Mr V Narayan for going out of his way to help me out when I had issues with the local dealer :thumbs up
Thanks,

Congratulations on your new car.clap: Its my dream car and hope one day i own this beauty.:) What's the final price you paid? Did you get any discounts?
Congrats on the new buy! The Blue and the Thor Hammer DRL is the killer. Enjoy many miles with it!
Congrats! Would love a review of the car and especially the infotainment system. Since the XC40 is launching on 4th July, is it a good option to still buy the v40?

You will find it very hard to put your money on v40 after seeing the interiors of xc40.

Well, I did go for the preview hosted by Volvo in Delhi and then I happened to see it at the Westin in Hyd where I was staying last week.
In terms of the interiors, all Volvos are top notch it’s just that the xc40 will come with the updated bells and whistles like the 9” touch panel, drive assist and a superb Harman Kardon system. Some other key features include the 8 speed auto gearbox, auto boot (with foot sensor), drive assist and of course the new platform that Volvo is introducing in this car.
The car will be priced at 43L ex showroom Delhi whereas if you negotiate hard, the v40 can be your second in about 30-31L on road delhi. IMO, for a 20L difference between the 2 cars, v40 cc is still a good option..
I almost picked up the s60 (paid advance too) but then retracted as it’s going to get the next gen next year even though they would not be launching it in Diesel.. but still paying so much money to find out after a year that your car is the old generation.. feels bad as unfortunately in india, your resale drops further once the car is of an older generation.

Thank you very much. Final price is a little under 43L. The total discount was 7.8L (approx). I have opted for the 4-year service package and tyre swap, which pretty much negated the discounts offered. However, you can get up to 10L off (and more) if you are flexible on colour or model year :)

Thank you. I will try to give my initial impressions, but this isn't my daily drive, and I haven't driven it enough to give any good review. The infotainment system feels dated but serves its purpose to a technologically challenged person like me.
I was in a dilemma knowing the impending launch of the XC40, but I didn't want to extend my budget beyond 40 OTR for a new car. Plus, my parents (who would be the primary users) prefer small hatches.
Would recommend it wholeheartedly, if one is OK with the space offered.

The Delhi dealer was pretty aggressive for the sale when I was dealing with them. Your indicated pricing was pretty much what I was looking at. After the Mumbai dealers antics, I had made up my mind to buy the car in Delhi and drive it down to Bombay, but then my parents didn't want that (and Mr Narayan's intervention also mellowed down the dealer personnel).
Thanks,

Hello All. I took delivery of a V40 Cross Country in Bangalore on July 1. Denim blue. Wanted to check with all the other V40/ Volvo owners, the Auto Start/Stop seems to be "Unavailable" if the ambient temp is more than 30C (operating range seems to be -5 to 30C). That seems quite impractical for Indian summer conditions. Is it something that the service center can program? Have done close to 800 km in 2 weeks. Enjoying it thoroughly.

That is to avoid cooking the folks inside as the aircon compressor turns off when start-stop is active. Trust me you'd want no higher than 30 degrees in the heat of south india.
Personally I just disable the start stop option. Its more pain than help especially on the highway.
Hi there!
Congratulations on the new car! I am almost there to get mine, and the one issue that holds me back is the ground clearance. I am looking at R-design, which has just about the same ground clearance as the Cross Country. Just wondering how's your experience been in this matter. Do you find the low ground clearance an issue? Cheers!
