Suzuki India revenue to beat Japan parent.

The sales revenue gap between Suzuki’s Japan and India operations narrowed down to $600 million in FY16, from $2.55 billion in FY15. In these two years, SMC’s Japan revenue grew 2 per cent to $9.29 billion, while Suzuki’s India net sales went up 33 per cent from $6.55 billion to $8.69 billion, data from SMC showed. This reduced the gap in revenue between Japan and India.

The H2 of the year will be more interesting and Maruti Suzuki’s capacity constraint will get eased with the commencement of production at its Gujarat unit in January next year. The new plant, in the first phase, will add an annual capacity of 250,000 units to the existing capacity of 1.5 million units between the company’s two plants at Gurgaon and Manesar in Haryana. The third plant will further expand Maruti’s volume and sales revenue.

Suzuki Motor Raises Profit Outlook.

Suzuki Motor (7269.Japan/SZKMY) jumped 6% to 3,782 yen per share after raising its fiscal year profit outlook.
Suzuki now sees its operating profit for fiscal year ending next March rising 2.4% to 200 billion yen, versus a 7.8% decline in profit previously.

Despite a large forex headwind, management indicated that sales and mix more than overcame that negative factor (Figure 2). Looking at our regional expectations versus what transpired, it was clear that most of the beat occurred in its Asian segment, where most of Maruti Suzuki’s profits are captured.

We maintain a favorable view of growth potential in the Indian auto market, and of the strength of Suzuki Motor’s products and dealer network there. We expect profits in India to continue to grow in 18/3 and beyond as sales volume increases.

Suzuki produce twice of cars in India compared to Japan in 2016.

Maruti Suzuki would have exceeded the production declared in 2016 but was constrained by the capacity limits.

Maruti Suzuki is set to end 2016 producing double the number of vehicles than parent Suzuki Motor Corp in its home market of Japan, and accounting for more than half the group volume worldwide.

Maruti’s performance underlines the increasing importance of India for Suzuki at a time when it is facing a sluggish market in Japan — its production at home shrank for 21 straight months. Investors have noticed the growing divergence in performance and driven up Maruti’s market value beyond that of the parent, which owns 56% of the Indian unit.

Maruti is estimated to produce 1.52-1.55 million passenger vehicles in 2016, almost double the expected production of 7.65-7.75 lakh units by Suzuki in Japan.

Maruti Suzuki India Q3 FY17 PAT jumps 47.5% at Rs 17,445 mn.

Maruti Suzuki India has registered 47.5 percent growth in its Profit After Tax (PAT) for third quarter of fiscal 2017 and stood at Rs 17,445 million. Its net sales for the concerned quarter went up by 12.4 percent and stood at Rs 166,236 million.

The carmaker's reported 3.5 percent growth in its sales volume at 387,251 vehicles. Of this, exports stood at 30,748 units.

Of SMC’s total production of 2,151,051 units in CY2016 (up 102.6% YoY), Maruti Suzuki contributed a record 1,510,959 units or an overwhelming 70.24 percent to SMC annual production numbers. The 12-month period saw Maruti scale a monthly high of 146,046 units in September, indicating that the carmaker enhanced production to feed its over 1,700 dealerships across the country ahead of the festive season of Diwali, which typically sees car buyers open their wallets.

Maruti aims to be one-stop shop for cars with Rohtak R&D hub - will have a full fledged testing facility thus sprucing up its product development capabilities in par with its parent company.

Maruti’s research and development (R&D) facility being set up at Rohtak in Haryana will be servicing customer requirements not just in India but Suzuki’s global markets, including Europe and Japan as well.

The Delhi-based company has so far spent Rs 1,900 crore since 2011 towards setting up the first phase of the R&D centre. The first phase was complete in November 2015.

A full-fledged vehicle testing lab, a crash lab, race and testing circuits with more than 30 types and 33 kms of tracks and over 220 engineers have been established in Phase I. Maruti Suzuki India (MSIL) claims that this facility is the only one of its kind in India set up to meet the stringent safety norms due to be implemented from October this year. A further Rs 1,900 crore is lined up for Phase II which will take care of transmission testing, EMC, right hand drive testing center, emission chamber, temperature control to name a few. There will be 10-12 new facilities coming up at the R&D center until March 2019,

While the new R&D facility will provide more teeth to Maruti, it however does not fully make the car market leader fully independent from support from parent Suzuki. “MSIL and Suzuki Motor Corporation will continue to work on new projects jointly. They are ahead of us in terms of technology and because of that gap a collaboration will always take place between the two companies

Suzuki India is giving so much to the parent company, however we don't get some the best Suzuki models like Swift Sports, Vitara Sports, Jimny in India.

Suzuki Motor Corporation reports positive sales across all segments and regions.

In Japan sales shows a positive trend after 23 months of slump in volumes. The New Swift, Ignis, Spacia, etc. contributed to this trend.

India and Thailand contributed to the growth in overseas production.

In Europe led by Vitara, S Cross, Swift and even the Jimny contributed to this positive trend. Ignis is just launched but is expected to help Suzuki to continue this trend in sales.

Maruti stock nears Rs 6,000, set to be first auto stock to hit Rs 2L cr m-cap

Maruti’s market-cap is 44% higher than parent Suzuki Motors’ market-cap of 2.18 trillion yen, which roughly equals Rs 1.28 lakh cr in rupee terms.

Against its nearest competitor Tata Motors (Rs 1.3 lakh crore), Maruti’s market-cap is about 41 per cent higher. M&M’s market-cap hit a high of Rs 93,002 crore in August last year.

Suzuki to aggressively launch products in India, draws up plan to sell 3 mn units every year by 2025.

As per plans Maruti will launch at least one new model every year between 2019-21 and at least two new launches every year from 2022-23 onwards.

The maker of popular cars such as Alto and Swift will nearly double its production capacity to 3 million units by 2025 from 1.56 million clocked last year to defend and grow its domestic market share.

A 'World Car' from India is in the offing.

the Delhi-based company will have a ‘Global Car’ developed almost entirely in India leveraging the rapidly growing local research and development center. This car will be developed by Indian engineers from Maruti Suzuki in India

More than 100 vendors of Maruti Suzuki were taken to Singapore recently for the annual vendor’s meet. The car market leader shared plans for the next 7-8 years at the meeting.
