I beg to differ, these cars and drivers get a lot of time off. Everytime I have a 5am flight, the chap comes below my house before midnight itself! Likewise even for day flights they come nearly 3-4 hours ahead of scheduled time. If they schedule themselves better they could take the car to designated washing centers or clean the car themselves when they have hours of spare time.

The C-classes looked aged after a year itself.

On the other hand, Eithad's E-classes are in better shape I guess coz they are newer.

Luxury Car has been on a high in 2018, but in India it was a muted affair.

The Swedish carmaker sold 2,687 cars in FY 2018-19 compared to 2,157 vehicles the previous year. According to the company, growth was driven by the launch of the XC40. Volvo also opened five new showrooms in Calicut, Raipur, Kolkata, Indore and South Mumbai.

Volvo offers nine models in India. These include the S60 and S90 sedans, V40, V90 and S60 Cross Country, V40 hatchback and the XC40, XC60 and XC90. The carmaker is expected to start local assembly of hybrid vehicles in India. The XC90 Plug-in Hybrid could be the first local-built hybrid model.

I find it hard to believe that the X4 was a major contributor to BMW's sales. The countryman is no surprise, it's definitely the most practical Mini.

I reckon this year will be good for BMW, if they continue the discounting on the 5 and 6GT. Moreover, the launch of the new 3 and new X5 would help boost sales further. Just hope they get the pricing right on these models.
The new X7 and face-lifted 7 would also come in this year but won't add much to the numbers.

Tables have turned in BMWs favour this year as they have the freshest line up of models. Will they beat MBIL? Not sure, but it is going to be a tough fight, Mercedes would definitely not dominate with as large a gap as they have in recent years.

Re: Mercedes, BMW & Audi sales figures in India

Mercedes-Benz sold 3885 units in the period of January-March 2019.

The AMG segment however remained the highest growing segment for Mercedes-Benz in Q1 2019, with more than 50% growth compared to Q1 2018.

Quote:
The company posts 14.72% decline in domestic sales in Q1 CY'19 when compared to 4556 units in same period year ago.
Quote:
The volume drivers for Mercedes-Benz India in the January-March period 2019 remained the Long Wheelbase E-Class Saloon. The new C-Class and the GLC SUV also contributed to the sales volume. The V-Class continues its sales success and the ‘Luxury MPV’ is on a waiting period in most markets

Re: Mercedes, BMW & Audi sales figures in India

This just in from Volvo. Great strides in product, but still a marginal / niche player in India:

Quote:
Despite the overall downtrend in the automobile sector, Volvo Car India has registered a strong 11% increase in sales in the first half of 2019. The company sold 1159 units in Jan-June 2019 against 1044 units in Jan-June 2018. Sales contribution from Mini Metros and Tier-I towns and a good demand for the SUV range aided the growth.

Lamborghini all geared up to create record sales in India.

Quote:
Lamborghini is expected to close 2019 with sales of over 65 units and will become the first super luxury carmaker in India to sell more than 50 vehicles in a year, spearheaded by the Urus.
On Urus:
Quote:
it has been a runaway hit in India as well. He said the company has received over 50 bookings for the SUV and there is a waiting period of over 6-8 months.
Quote:
Urus has helped us bring in new set of buyers. Over 70% of Urus buyers are first-time Lamborghini buyers, of which 10% are female. As against a sports car which is usually driven by individuals, we have seen significant number of buyers who use the Urus for family and many have a chauffeur to drive them around

Lamborghini has already sold 50 units in 2019 and we are still in September, I am sure their target of 65 cars looks very much achievable.

BMW India selling 7049 units in the same period, to me it’s not as bad a fall as I was expecting , further the difference with Mercedes for the same period is down to just 2000 cars, as opposed to 4000 in the previous full year , so considering the tens continues we’re seeing the gap closing further and with the new 3, x7 (which has become an instant hit considering the number of them I’ve seen on Delhi roads (the CBU 40i DPE versions i.e.) I see the gap narrowing further till the new GLE/GLS come along
