This could be the next low cost rally car India has been waiting for to take the place of the Esteem.

Logan will be priced against the Indigo / Ikon Flair / MUL Baleno.

Baleno selling like hot cakes now, as is the Indigo in Diesel version while Ford is almost gone extinct with the Flair. So where will the Logan slot in ? And as GTO pointed out - A.S.S will be a major factor (TATA & MUL leagues ahead)...tough assignment for M & M with the Logan.

Will the people of India take to another cheap car ? Im waiting with bated breath.

Rally car ? I doubt the performance will be anything worth writing about.

Hey guys,
here are the spy shots that i took of the car on Haji Ali Seaface -
Pics taken from a N6630 while the cars were in motion. I was in the Fiesta at that time. Excuse me for the poor quality. I wasn't very impressed with the car and i think it was the diesel variant undergoing testing unless the petrol was noisy (or maybe i'm spoilt by the Fiesta and E 270)
Do you think i should email these to ACI?

Cheers guys

New midsizer??

Spotted a totally covered mid-sized sedan this morning while i was on my way to work. Was covered with something like a car cover without the plastics on the windows and a inute peak here there.
The tail lights seemed huge, almost as big as the indigo, infcat it did look similar to the indigo exept for the slight front that i got a peak at.
Probably a new look indigo or something.
Experts whats hitting the midsize segment now??

manson.

I have been seeing the Logan every once in a while mostly on the Western Express Highway. Though the covers do make it look ugly, the basic shape told me even without the muddy covers that were flapping in the wind, it would not look a whole lot better. Its too boxy in shape. This particular vehicle is a left hand drive. It did seem to have pretty nice pick up, as it sped off along the left most lane where the W E highway goes around the airport runway.
In general, I was not impressed.

This will really put to test the thumb rule that give Indians anything with a boot with a diesel heart and it will sell.

JV anticipating more models than just logan.

Mahindra-Renault JV rolls out India plans

2006-09-28 08:50 Source : Moneycontrol.com

The Mahindra-Renault joint venture may manufacture more models besides Logan. Renault will increase its component outsourcing from India as well, reports CNBC-TV18.

The Mahindra-Renault JV may launch different versions of the Logan too. Renault has placed bulk orders for two key components from India. It will finalise outsourcing of forged components from Mahindra & Mahindra.

The Renault India subsidiary will work with Nissan India to import cars to India. Also, Logan's Indian version will complete its final test in October.

Logan if launched at the right price point & with the right engine options will severely dent the sales of the Indigo segment. Considering the international reviews it is quite a decent car especially at the price it is selling at abroad. And if it can offer good FE, decent interiors & comfort, reliability & cheap spares & service it will be a hit in the market.

I am again stressing that to succeed in today's Indian market some of the most vital factors are the right engine, good fuel efficiency & the right price point. Recent cars which have failed due to pricing issues despite being good products are the Ford Fusion & Baleno (Pre-price cuts).

If Renault/Carlos Ghosn get their strategy right they can work wonders in the Indian market. Remember Carlos is no idiot he's turned around Nissan from huge losses to one of the most profitable car maker in the world and that itself is no mean feat. So don't put them down before the launch atleast.

I doubt if they can match Tata and Maruti in pricing.

Both petrol and diesel engines of the Logan are going to be fully imported.

Logan drives a lot better than the Indigo. The Indica Family has this very odd steering position and feel. On top of that the Road Manners, especially in talking back to the Driver is way behind. Thats what one of my relatives on a recent visit from Romania tells me. But how the Indian car is setup is a big question.
