But the VX too had Power folding ORVMs. Atleast the petrol variant did. Did they remove this feature from VX?

Still no ACC or rear wash and wipe.

They've just hiked the Brio prices by 50,000 with the addition of these features.

These were the old prices (Delhi):
Brio VX MT : Rs. 551,500
Brio VX AT : Rs. 630,900

The market already perceives the Brio as overpriced, and Honda reacts by hiking the prices further. I think Honda is back to their high and mighty days.

That much money for a navigation-enabled HU and electric-folding ORVMs? I'm not even considering the Maruti-esque speedometer tweak and interior color combo option as 'features'. What are Honda smoking?

P.S. All this craziness just makes me think they're going to mess up pricing for the Jazz again, given their (grossly) misplaced sense of what minor feature upgrades are worth.

A more contemporary & classier dash design is the main negative of the Brio/Amaze. The sooner Honda looks into that, far better will be its prospects in the market.

I just hope it isn't the buggy system we saw in the pre-launch Mobilios (same dashboard). If anyone is planning to buy this variant of the Brio / Amaze, please be sure to test the AVN thoroughly before booking.

Fact is, you can get much better head-units at a cheaper price in the aftermarket.

Has the price rise got to do with the raise in excise duty or is it due to the upgrades alone?

True. Very weird pricing just for the HU & electric-folding ORVMs. They have a 6" screen & don't throw in a Reverse Parking camera to go with it for that price difference? C'mon Honda, what were you thinking/smoking?

Seems they are taking the mass market route very seriously & trying to milk customers with their reputation/badge value with these minor upgrades

on the Jazz part. Really hope they don't mess it up but losing hope with the recent developments from Honda.

Good heads-up GTO for potential buyers of this trim. First look at the pictures of that HU it self feels so cheap. Hope they just didn't fix the bugs on the units that were sourced & introduced them now as new variants.

Can only hope they changed the plastic quality & fixed all the bugs.

All this in response to Zests success? (and features)? no matter, all the competition is good for the end user.

The Amaze VX petrol is 8k more than Zest 90ps XT diesel!

Prices also seem about 50k more than the Xcent variants. (No touchscreen on offer, but is also feature loaded). Rather than improving on the perceived quality- the have added features and hiked prices even more.

Official press release says "newly designed wing mirrors", so the power-folding ORVMs are of a different design now, than before. They look more like the City's ORVM design (but smaller), than the present simple-designed ones.

In addition, the Brio VX is also available in the default dual-tone interior format as well.

re: Honda launches new top variants for the Amaze and Brio!

Rage is all that I feel when I see the words "all-new". Who are they trying to cheat with these cheap upgrades? I am pretty sure that the first batch of cars will be fitted with the AVN units overstocked and lying in their Mobilio production line.

It is definitely in response to Zest and as you said end customer will benefit. Zest HU also includes voice commands, i hardly press any buttons while driving. I use voice commands to change music tracks, call people etc

I still don't understand how people still buy amaze with such ugly dash

I dont think it is logical to compare the dashboard of Amaze to that of Tata Zest. The amaze one looks like a straight lift from a mini commercial truck or a mini passenger carrier if too optimistic.. The zest one looks real premium and upmarket for sure.

Now, that's something I'd have never expected to read in my life but kudos to Tata for beating the Honda product fair and square at a lesser price point.
