Re: The Mahindra Quanto Facelift. EDIT: Might be called Canto

Mahindra must not rest on the laurels of making this Quanto a huge success in the domestic markets. On a humanitarian consideration M&M must export this funny contraption with larger than life glasses all around to the Nordics and such places, where it is alleged that the suicide rates are high due to grim weather situations.

Re: The Mahindra Quanto Facelift. EDIT: Might be called Canto

What I still don't understand is, why don't the designers and top execs have minimum common sense to understand that this kind of ugly un-proportionate waste bins will not sell in Indian market these days! Even Maruti suffered for its blunder when they launched Estilo. Another such a nonsense (IMO) is coming from Mahindra itself - the S101.

Mahindra has to stop Quanto, Xylo, Verito and Vibe, and concentrate on Scorpio, XUV, Bolero, and the new sub-4m Bolero.

Thanks to this anonymous person!

Sharing photos and collating feedback from forum members could also be a marketing / product development exercise. If it is so, they should absorb every bit of it.

Front end might look interesting once the curtains are raised. Have a gut feeling that it might be the scaled-down Scorpio from front. On the other hand, Side profile is going to get them downhill on Sales charts. Door glasses look out of proportion and gives vehicle a Volvo bus kinda look. Overall looks are very boxy and boring.

Interested to see the final outcome and hoping that it could be more interesting than this ugly duckling

He he! That will be hilarious. Imagine the Quanto would do its bit to drive those suicide rates further north. I really think Mahindra needs to go back to the drawing board on this one.

I headed to the display area which had an Ertiga, EcoSport, refreshed Quanto and Duster parked. We were asked to rate all these cars on their exteriors and interiors.
Why dig your own grave. Why even compare with the Ecosport and Duster which look leagues ahead of the Quanto. Unless they do something about the disproportionately tall stance of the Quanto, its not going anywhere. I am also aware that its not easy to change the design of this car though.

Atleast they can go the Mahindra way by changing the Nano name thereby shedding the associated image of a "Cheap car" which is one of the main reasons why it doesn't sell well. Tata Pixel- how beautiful it sounds!
+1. Thats really hilarious and at the same time ironic as well. Dont know why its so difficult for Tatas and Mahindras to let go of their bad product. Instead of using their energies on something new and usefull they keep bringing these useless updates.

Now I am worried about S101, its really tall for its size and could end up as baby Quanto. Dont know why they fail to design low slung cars and to top it up they keep testing the product for so long that it actually loses its relevance in the current market scenario now Kwid will be out before S101 and Mahindra will lose the first mover advantage. Kwid will be the first micro SUV and not S101.

Well, in the first place this is a chopped down Xylo which is the ugliest thing in Indian 7 seater segment. Next, it has an uncanny resemblance to Tata Magic that that told a lie to have its nose extended, a la Pinocchio . Beyond this, the audacity to launch a " "refresh" of a . They actually needed a complete rework on this thing.

Its just like spitting out a chewing gum and putting it back in cuboidal form to chew it again sans the flavor.

Or maybe this is a great Mahindra policy of not firing even the worst performing teams. If so, worth considering a job @M&M.

Re: The Mahindra Quanto Facelift. EDIT: Might be called Canto

It might sell a few, thanks to the fact that it is a Mahindra. I somehow find the side profile similar to the Premier Rio, just that Quanto/Canto is a bit bigger in dimensions! It would always remain a faliure, if marketed as an urban crossover, it would find more acceptance amongst rural buyers though, if priced properly.

Re: The Mahindra Quanto Facelift. EDIT: Might be called Canto

That's a wagonR, isn't it? On a serious note, companies should start taking feedback from customers seriously.
M&M did it with XUV and it's a success. Probably they can do the same with the Quanto as well, even if it means discontinuing the product and starting with a fresh slate.

Re: The Mahindra Quanto Facelift. EDIT: Might be called Canto

Camouflaged model does give it a hint that it is flatter and more SUVish front end.
Problem of dynamics would be inherited i feel due to short wheelbase, high ground clearance and design itself.
Like many fellow BHPians i also sincerely believe what is the point of dragging it, why stick to canto, just say cant do and move on

Re: The Mahindra Quanto Facelift. EDIT: Might be called Canto

Fire the designer & send him to the Nordic region.
Hopefully, he will succumb to his fate there.

Why bother with camouflaging such a contraption?
No one would cast it a second glance anyway

I have never felt this frustrated ever ....

i live in the Nordics and it's not all that bad here...in case you are still trying to 'punish' the designer there are other places.
