From post 131, it's the trd ( Toyota racing development ) variant of the vios. The other one which you liked is the normal variant of vios.

The new generation Vios even takes some styling cues from the new Camry, some of which are visible from the car's exterior profile. The car came with alloy wheels and electrical ORVMs with integrated turn signal lights. That said, the test mule did not have projector headlamps or LED tail lamp.

Multiple sources seem to suggest that an India launch is imminent. If someone with inside information can shed more light, it would be useful. Perhaps they are waiting for response to the Platinum Etios before deciding whether to offer this in the Indian market.

Spotted doing the testing rounds by Zigwheels' spies.

Another test mule, with a temporary Karnataka number plate, was spotted recently in Lonavla. The car wore no camouflage but the Toyota logo was taken off the front grille.

From the outside, the car looks more upmarket than its smaller sibling, the Etios. The front design is reminiscent of the Corolla Altis, thanks to the front grille and the swept-back design of the headlights. Just like the Etios, the Vios’ side profile looks rather simple, but the eight-spoke alloy wheels immediately demand attention. At the back, the wraparound taillights design has a touch of the Hyundai Verna.

re: Scoop! Toyota Vios caught testing in Bangalore Edit: it's the Yaris Ativ

I think Toyota might be too late on this one. I think there's no chance this car will be launched at all. They may just be testing some other engine (or hybrid powerplant) with this body.

Why I think they won't sell this car: The car shown in the picture was third generation car launched in 2013. Considering it'll be phased out by 2018 or 2019, there's no point in investing on the manufacturing setup just to sell the car for two years. Considering the dismal performance of the Etios and the fiercely competitive segments priced between 9-13 lakh, they better put their best effort if they want volumes. The new Verna is not too far away and Honda City's face lift is expected soon.

If Toyota wants to, they can sell an old model for a long time.

I checked the prices and interiors of the Vios on the Thai Toyota website. When converted to INR, the cheapest one is about 12 lacs and its goes upto 15 lacs. The interiors themselves are relatively spartan and look at least one generation old if not two. There is no rear AC vent, no touchscreen ICE, no SAT NAV - I am assuming that like in most markets - the interior 360 degree view captures the top variant rather than the bottom variant. With such features and prices, it would be wise to declare the product DoA.

Corolla Altis price in India is around 75% of what it is in Malaysia.
Applying the same logic, the pricing should be in the range of 9.3 lakhs to 11.7 lakhs ex-showroom in India

re: Scoop! Toyota Vios caught testing in Bangalore Edit: it's the Yaris Ativ

Noticed this car on the Bangalore-Mysore highway last week early one morning.
Would've gone unnoticed but for the RED TC plates and taped-over badges. Didn't look significantly larger than the Etios.Typical 'meh' Toyota!

Would probably fit well in the City/Vento/Rapid territory.

P.S. Not a long time ago when the next segment cars costed about 14-15L OTR, now the top end Vento crosses that number if I heard right.

[29th Dec 2016, 1030]I saw the Vios in Jayanagar 9th block, right in front of Big Bazaar. I was cycling and the car was too fast to click a pic.

The car doesn't look wide in person and looked bland in the shade of white.

March 2018 or March 2017. If 2018, 15 months is too long and too late once again.

re: Scoop! Toyota Vios caught testing in Bangalore Edit: it's the Yaris Ativ

Spotted the Toyota Vios test mule during one of my travels in the first week of January.

This particular test car was uncamouflaged, but bore the badge "E" on the right side of the boot, indicating that this car was a base variant. Missing fog lamp sections in the front confirmed this, although the car was shod with 10-spoke gunmetal alloys.

The mule didn't have the Toyota badge up front, although from the front the car is unmistakably Toyota. Reminds you of a mish-mash of the Etios's & the Corolla Altis's front sections.

The rear bumper had taken a small hit and was slightly out of place, near the passenger side rear door where the body panel meets the bumper section.

Wraparound headlamp sections and tail lights make the car look bigger than it is, and the size/street footprint is comparable to the Skoda Rapid. The white colour felt a bit bland on the Vios's curves. Blue would look good on this car.

Cabin seemed to be quite spacious.

Credit to my friend Harsh for the snaps.

My Toyota birdie claims that production is supposed to start from September 2017 onwards, with a launch scheduled for the last quarter of FY2017.

They also claim that the Vios will have more than 3-4 differentiating factors (in their words "aces up it's sleeves"), besides the legendary Toyota reliability badge, to put up a strong case for itself when it eventually goes up against the City & the Ciaz.

This is the Yaris sedan here in the UAE.

Below is the link for the local Dubai Dealer. Very popular due to it being cheap and reliable.

Any information on whether this is going to be the current gen model sold in Thailand or the next gen which as per some rumors is under development?
