I tried to get some information on possible launch dates - especially if there is any launch this year for the Vios/Yaris and what i got to know from 2 different sources in TKM is that they are quite clueless about it :-) , in fact they divulged that the current major projects running are the facelifted Innova and a facelift for the Liva. If at all Vios / Yaris is launched it could only be in 2017/18. May be Toyota just decided to import the Vios and drive it here and see how it performs under Indian conditions and the decision to launch/when etc might be made later. |
I read through this thread having a similar feeling running through my head. All this excitement on the thread and there's really no confirmation from Toyota that this is indeed going to be launched even if it is in 2017! So at the moment its just speculation like 'stock market sentiment'
That said, I do
hope this comes to India. :D
I do not understand how Toyota with their engineering prowess cannot make desirable cars to a price when Maruti, Hyundai and even Honda can. Maybe its just a lack of intent rather than anything else.

All this is mere speculation/wishful thinking as there is no official news. Nothing at all.
I want to know whey they have put tapes overs head/tail light. It isn't hiding anything.
According to this, there won't be any new models launched this year:

When asked about the company's plans to enter new segments in India, he said Toyota's global senior management people have visited the country to analyse the market and discussions were ongoing.
"However, for this year, we don't have any new model launches," Raja said, adding refreshed versions of its existing models, like it had done with Innova and Fortuner, would be continued.

Toyota is in no hurry to launch the Vios. Speculated launch only in late 2017.

The car will start its production in India in Sept 2017. Vios will come with keyless entry and start stop function will be standard across all variants of Vios.

For our indian standards (As per Toyota) Even Yaris was untouchable !! hence they created Etios specially for us
Glad that they finally realized their mistake and hoping to see some real products from them for private car buyers
When Toyota is having such designs available;
^ Toyota Mirai (Will go on sale in September '15 in EU)
Then why make a Vios & wait till 2017 to launch the car ? Such a waste of time & bad management.
IMO the VIOS should have been on sale NOW.
Indian weather and traffic conditions provide an extreme test scenario for cars. Maybe they are simply testing their product here.
Few years ago we had also seen Yaris doing test runs.

In a bid to increase its market share in the Indian market, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, the Indian subsidiary of the Japanese carmaker, is working on a bunch of all new cars. Besides launching new-generation model of its highly popular cars - Innova and Fortuner - the company is planning to enter some new segments as well including the mid-sized sedan and compact SUV. While the Vios could be the company's mid-sized sedan for India, there is no clarity on the compact SUV yet.

Looks like Toyota are gearing up for a busy two years now. After the Innova and Vios have been spotted testing in Bangalore, looks like Auto Expo 2016 in Delhi is when the new models will be displayed.
Also, has the new fortuner been spotted in India anywhere?
The Innova, Fortuner and the Vios seems to have been more or less confirmed, but a small SUV? Will it be the Rush or the RAV4? Looks like it's not first priority now.

I don't know the source about this information, but I had read somewhere that Vios outsells is competitors combined in Malaysia. This maybe due to high number of Taxi cars :)
So are we expecting Toyota to launch Vios in AutoExpo 2016 and make the car on sale by at least Q2 2016?
PS - In the market, for a new car buyout, can wait though!
I wonder why they can't launch it now. Would fill up the gap b/w Etios and Altis. I can't understand why they Santo launch it in Q2 2016?please:
Friends, I know the new Innova thread is very active and it is anticipated that it will launch in India in 2016.
Any insider news on Toyota Vios launch in India. Only news I could find in Google is
http://www.ibtimes.co.in/next-gen-to...ch-2018-651596
However, the news in there is not very encouraging - "
The new generation Vios is expected to reach Indian shores in January 2018 and will be powered by a 1.6-litre petrol and a 1.6-litre diesel engine"
