Same here. Went to the showroom on Hosur Road in Bangalore. They have only the 2015 stock, albeit at the 2015 prices. Did not have a test drive car ready. I've still not driven it even once. He said the TD vehicle had a problem with the ABS.

Why is it so difficult for VW to maintain consistency across the country and give the latest feature list?

I can confirm that the Highline is having the latest touchscreen system. I got the delivery on 28th Jan and the model year is definitely 2016.

Talk to your dealer.

Re: 2015 Volkswagen Jetta Facelift : A Close Look

Same here as well in Chennai. Went to all the 3 dealers . They all have the same answer - only 2015 Jetta models are available and no idea when 2016 will be launched. At least all the dealers are consistent on this.

All the Autoexpo stories about new model launches take time to reflect on the ground. This is what one of the senior salesperson in one of the showroom said.

I heard from VW dealership in Pune. They confirmed with the company and there are two features which will not be activated on the Indian version of Jetta. These are -

- Voice commands
- App Connect (Mirrorlink / CarPlay / Android Auto)

When Ameo will have this in later half of this year, people like me are going to feel despite of paying much higher money for this feature.

Anyways, I am not worried about this.

You mean to say, these 2 features will NEVER be actiavted for the 2015/2016 Jettas? That would be way too ridiculous.

I test drove the new vento. It comes with mirror link - not wireless though. The supporting mobile has to be connected via USB cable is what I was told. Dint check that out though.

Re: 2015 Volkswagen Jetta Facelift : A Close Look

Visited one of the VW dealers in Chennai. Apparently, the issue with the activation of AppConnect in Composition Media is due to some license/contract to be signed between VW India, Apple and Google. Only UK, Australia and Germany have this contract in place and hence have the feature activated by dealers.

What I heard is it might take long time for this contract to be signed for the feature to be priced and activated in India.

Re: 2015 Volkswagen Jetta Facelift : A Close Look

I've been having the 2015 face lifted Jetta (TDi, DSG) for the past 10 months. The product is simply brilliant. The car never fails to bring a smile when you drive. It's a brilliant piece of engineering. I actually booked the Octavia and cancelled it and never have I repented my decision. The car feels more solid compared to Octavia and it's styling is classic. The gearbox, engine + combo is outstanding. Due to driving in rain water my car had flywheel issues, taken care by insurance. Also had coolant sump leakage and was replaced under warranty.

Hi Dharma, could you please share a photo of the engine_no & chassis_no print ? Guess the Month-year also should be there, embossed. Its really awesome to get 2016 model in Jan itself.

My dealer swore to me that VW have not produced/released 2016 models in India yet - as on last week, and its expected in April only. They're still clearing 2015 stock from the plant. It made sense to me back then, and honestly, am surprised that you got one in Jan itself.

The photo will help me argue with Dealer - though I booked a HL DSG, would love to push him to get 2016 model.

@sunsbhp

I will post the picture tomorrow. My VIN is - WVWL15168GA550450

You will need to use VIN decoder to determine the manufacturing year and date.

It is Jan 2016 manufacturing and 2016 model year.

Look at the dashboard photo -

2015 Volkswagen Jetta Facelift : A Close Look-20160315095643.jpg

This is the new MIB 2 system which is available on all the 2016 models. Even Polo and Vento got similar (one grade lower) upgrade.

My brother booked Vento in last week of Feb and he got the Feb 2016 manufacturing car. So it is not so rare that you get the car manufactured in the same month. I think depends upon how much old stock your dealer is carrying. If he is carrying old stock, I would see this as an opportunity to negotiate hard!

Go ahead and negotiate hard with the Dealer. He must be in the hurry to get his stock cleared up.

Good luck man!

@Dharma, but according to your VIN, isn't it a L - November, 15 - 2015 model? My VIN is also similar.

It is Jan 2016 manufacturing and 2016 model year.
From some reading I had done on VIN numbers during my car purchases, the manufacturing year and model year are not the same. In your VIN number:

The fouth digit "L" is the manufacturing month, which is November
The fifth and sixth digits "15" represent the manufacturing year which is 2015
The 10th digit "G" is the model year, which corresponds to 2016.

For VW, model year starts in August. So, a November 2015 manufactured car will be model 2016.

Check out the below press release from VW on Model Year 2016 changes.

VW Press Release 2016

This release was from August 5, 2015, the beginning of model year 2016. In this press release they mention the new MIB music system getting added to 2016 model year. Here is an excerpt.

2015 Volkswagen Jetta Facelift : A Close Look-jetta-model-year-2016.png

Check out Wildon's below post on VW VIN decoder which says 4th character is manufacturing month, and 10th digit is model year.

Wildon's post on VW VIN number and model year

So, if you are particular about 2016 manufactured car, you will have to talk to the dealer.

You both are correct. My mistake on the manufacturing year. This is November 2015 manufacturing and 2016 model.

Re: 2015 Volkswagen Jetta Facelift : A Close Look

why did they stop production of 2016/Jan (manufacturing) cars. Even Hyderabad dealer was saying same thing, he has 2015/Dec model.

Does VW releasing 2017 model soon ? or any update expected.

From what the Chennai dealer told me the year 2016 Jetta will be assembled only from 1st April 2016 onwards and till then they clear the existing ones. Whether if it is going to be a facelift or same one, knowing Volkswagens track record, no one can really say!
