Re: Tata Hexa @ Geneva Motor Show 2015. An Aria-based Crossover!

Look wise excellent. Hope the performance, A.S.S experience of Tata dealers too reaches next level.

If this "Hexa" is from "Nexa"? Would have been easily a segment leader.

Common Tata, with good looking products, time to seriously upgrade the sales and service experience.

That was spot-on. I was among the early owners of the TATA Sierra back in 1996 when SUV was a term only in T-G and CAR!. No doubt the Sierra looked nice - a near straight lift as it was (looks wise only!) from some American SUV of an earlier period - but that was the last Tata I owned/intend to own. The memory of the acrobatics needed to access the rear seats due to its three door body shell, still makes my mom-in-law feel faint! And I look back with congealed terror at the Tata ASC experience!

I am a very satisfied owner of a Scorpio for many years now and I have made it the bench mark for measuring SUVs this side of 14L in our market - notwithstanding all the hatchback-on-steroids brigade which are flooding the market currently under the guise of wannabe SUVs.

There is definitely a mismatch between the front and the rear. They've tried to hide the bulk of the tail, but they would have had to shorten the vehicle or redesign the rear structurally in order to achieve anything better. The Aria also looked too long and bulky for it to appear anything other (better? SUV like?) than an MUV. This is a good effort, and there will be a large number that like the front, but I think the length and bulk will put a lot off too. I don't think the Hexa can displace the Innova which has most of the MUV market that Tata is targetting with the Hexa.
True on the wipers.

I don't think they are targeting the Innova but instead the XUV, Fortuner and Endy.

Aria is now there for the Innova. Even the Aria originally wasn't targeted at the Innova and then the XUV didn't exist.

Terrain response / AWD is not Innova segment which is why the original Aria shape was a problem.

AutocarIndia has uploaded the Hexa pictures. Looks like their test drive report will be out soon.

The interiors look superb. Six speed transmission and 400NM engine is confirmed.

From the look and features of hexa, it looks like tata is trying to up their game. I really kind of like the car and its proportions. 400nm in the drivable rpm will be great though. If and only if the TATA ASS improves , then it is going to be a celebration time for the perineal underdogs.

Awesome, mood lightning too. I think they should plonk the top end with a sun roof as well. Not sure how they plan to price it though, they will need to undercut XUV 500 by some amount variant to variant.

XUV 500 still looks a tad better IMO, but if I am in market for a SUV it can be a hit and go.

Re: Tata Hexa @ Geneva Motor Show 2015. An Aria-based Crossover!

As everyone mentioned - it looks good. But the one in the auto car website would be the top end version. Wonder what all the rest of the models lose. But should be a good competitor to the new Innova which would go up the price bracket anyways and hence leaving some room for the Hexa to slot in.

Re: Tata Hexa @ Geneva Motor Show 2015. An Aria-based Crossover!

I must be one of the few who does not immediately like the looks then. For now the front/ bonnet looks to squishy to me, the body much to long in proportion. Perhaps it's just the camera angles. I'll need to see it in person to decide.

Re: Tata Hexa @ Geneva Motor Show 2015. An Aria-based Crossover!

What size are the wheel RIMS? 19" as was reported. They look bigger than the 17" on the Aria.

Won't that affect the ride. (Make it harsh). Also does that not imply the 4X4 modes usage only on stuff like sand, snow, slush etc rather than very rough roads? The Aria admittedly is not really for being driven on rocks still. the smaller profile tyre walls would affect the capability in some manner.

Re: Tata Hexa @ Geneva Motor Show 2015. An Aria-based Crossover!

I also have the same assessment as C'estlavie. If they are going for macho SUV/MPV look, the front should have been bit more elongated like a Dodge Durango.

I will have to say that XUV500 still retains a more 'proportional' look in-terms of height vs width vs length.

The image of complete dashboard suggests that the manual gearbox has 6-forward speed gears! Now time for Bolt hot-hatch with that gearbox plonked in!!

Any time frame , any leaks or info from friends in the tata group. I'm damn close to buying a Mahindra XUV W 10 , but would wait for the Hexa even if it means six months.

I had to look up the meaning of squishy to understand what thus comment meant, and it confused me more.

I liked the proportions and Hexa's stance but it looks too long, may be as long as Endeavour. I only hope it serves the purpose of the people who want a real seven seater soft roader.

Re: Tata Hexa @ Geneva Motor Show 2015. An Aria-based Crossover!

To everyone his opinion, but methinks this Hexa is finally the XUV killer that our market has been waiting for since the XUV arrived in the scene. The thing with the XUV was that it was good for whatever it was good at, and terrible for whatever it was bad at. Even in terms of design, it looked imposing due to its size, the Jeep grille and the black glasshouse. If we take out the last two, the XUV would start to look like a overdone disaster with no character in its design. But the market had seen nothing quite like it, so it sells in huge numbers. The ancient Safari was never a match for the face value of the XUV, neither was the MPVish Aria.

But this time, Tata have beaten Mahindra at their own game. It has everything that is wrong in the XUV perfectly sorted, and also has a touch of class to its design and execution, which the rugged and aggressive, but slightly more rudimentary feeling XUV simply cannot boast of. The interior, in terms of seat comfort (look at that bolstering!), space, quality and equipment feels properly top notch, and easily beats the XUV's overstyled interior any day. And if the 400 Nm figure is really official, I bet Mahindra would be having sleepless nights.

The way this car is shaping up, we can safely say that Tata are back with a bang. And I'd say that if this doesn't finally beat the XUV, nothing will. But a new threat to this car has come from a size below, in form of the compact SUV's, particularly the Creta. The Creta will obviously be more car-like and more efficient as well, but there are takers for size. And the Tata this time isn't a disappointment in terms of quality or finish like earlier. And again, a seriously powerful and torquey motor would mean this car could beat the hell out of the Creta and other smaller cars on the highway.

The only real negative I see with this Hexa is that the brilliant D-Segment sedans will be endangered further, and this car may become yet another nail in their coffins.
