The Kicks is a direct rival of the Creta & S-Cross. It will not compete against the sub-4m SUVs like EcoSport & Vitara Brezza.

Since Nissan already have the slow selling badge-engineered Terrano in this space, it would make sense for them to completely replace the Terrano with the Kicks. Apart from that unmatched ride quality from the French suspension, the Kicks would be better than the Terrano in all other aspects. The interior of the Kicks is light years ahead of the Terrano. That instrument cluster would easily be the best in its class, whenever the Kicks is launched here.

They can even carry over the same powertrain options from the Terrano.

I think this would be the competitor for Captur. So we'll have to see how Renault places the Captur and I'd believe it'll be premium to the Duster. Hope they do a price correction to the Duster / Terrano before launching the Captur / Kicks. I doubt these have the brand pull for a product at 15L+ especially with Hyundai having an established product.

I somehow don't see Renault and Nissan bringing in 2 SUVs. Either it's going to be a sub 4m compact sedan or a Creta rival. If they do the latter then you can trust them to reduce the prices of Duster slightly and have the new vehicle as a premium SUV. Also whatever they do, they are going to use the existing Duster platform for sure. No way they are going to invest in an all new platform. You never know, if it's a compact SUV it could be even based on the existing Micra / Sunny platform.

In Renault's case here is the likely scenario,
1. Duster will grow in size and be a 7 seater
2. Kaptur based on the Duster platform will fill the > 4m Compact/UV - will take on Creta
3. Nissan's answer to EcoSport will be the Kicks ( modified for India)

Nissan seeks opinion in choosing ONE more dual tone color variants for Kicks.

The already chosen ones are first with a gray body and the Orange roof and the other, special series Rio 2016, was white paint with the ceiling also in Orange.

Now 1 from the below will be chosen by the public through social media.

The third one looks a head turning colour combo.
Any news of an Indian arrival timing?

The Kicks SUV has been spotted in China by an Auto Home spy.

Looks like 3 variants would be on offer. Can we expect the same in India too?

Nice looking wheelcap design - almost passes off as an alloy.

One for the ages - the Nissan Kicks sharing screen space with the Renault Captur, the Honda WR-V and the Hyundai Creta.

Wow! Will this line up shake up our market in the coming year?
On a side note I miss the boxy SUVs of the past!

re: The Nissan Kicks Crossover. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 9.55 lakhs

According to ACI sources, Nissan will launch the Kicks SUV in the third quarter of 2018.

However, the India-spec Kicks will be based on a modified version of the existing Duster's tried-and-tested M0 platform, unlike the Kicks offered in the South American market, which is based on Nissan's newer V-platform.

The Nissan Kicks Crossover. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 9.55 lakhs-20170314110255_kicksz.jpg

Quote:
Unlike the South American model, which is spun off Nissan’s V-platform, the made-for-India Kicks (code: PB1D) will be based on the upcoming Renault Kaptur’s (code: HHA) platform. This is essentially a modified version of Renault’s proven M0 platform that underpins cars like the Duster and Lodgy, which are known for their robust mechanicals.
The low-cost M0 platform has proved to be a cash cow for Renault globally and is ideally suited for markets like India. The alliance’s European-spec CMF-B platform was also evaluated initially but was eventually rejected as it proved to be a lot more expensive than the M0 which has also been localised over the years.
Cars based on the M0 platform get a choice of just two engines, a 1.6 petrol and the venerable 1.5 K9K diesel, and hence these are likely to be carried forward into the Kicks as well. The 1.5 diesel is expected to be the mainstay but it's likely that in its latest iteration there will be a small bump up in power and torque.
Nissan has set an ambitious target of 30,000 Kicks in its first full year of production with an additional 20,000 units earmarked for exports.

re: The Nissan Kicks Crossover. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 9.55 lakhs

Don't the Micra, Pulse, Sunny & Scala all use Nissan's V platform? Even the Datsun GO & GO+ use a modified (or rather, cheapened) version of this platform, don't they?

So why should Nissan choose to build Kicks on the Duster's platform? Kicks is not a badge-engineered K(/C)aptur, so it doesn't quite make sense.

If the Indian Kicks is indeed built on the Duster's platform, then we would not get the actual Kicks, but only a Kicks-like vehicle.
