Yes SDK, from Jan 2015 onwards they have removed the 5th alloy wheel as an option. Recently I bought an W8 and 5th alloy is not present and it was conveyed to me by the dealer.

My colleague confirms that his FWD W8 has an alloy spare wheel. Have they switched to a steel rim from this facelift? Or does the W10 alone get an alloy wheel as the spare?

When did your colleague get his W8? I suppose it is manufactured before Jan 2015, hence he got alloys.

His car was delivered in December 2013. Have they switched to steel rims for the models manufactured after Jan. '15?

Yes they have. Because recently I bought my W8 which is April 2015 manufactured and it has a silver steel rim as spare When I checked on the same with my dealer, he said post Jan 2015 they have stopped the 5th spare alloy wheel.

Also to remove the spare tyre, earlier we used to get a tool to turn the cap and lower the tyre. But now I was informed to open the cap using a coin and use the wheel nut spanner to lower the tyre.

Have to agree with you. Love the look of the earlier bonnet as compared to the new facelift. Seems they have taken inspiration from the Range Rover with regard to the new bonnet look. Feels like the Cheetah has lost its 'beastly' looks!

INMO, if it ain't an automatic, it ain't a car. Call me lazy or spoiled or both. M&M says AT version will be out soon. Really? How soon? 5/6 years? These guys really disappoint me.

M&M- Australia views on the launch of AT!

Mahindra Australia marketing manager James Halliwell told us the updated XUV500 would arrive in local showrooms in the final quarter of this year.

He also confirmed a long awaited six-speed automatic version is currently being developed and is destined to go on sale locally in the second quarter of 2016.

In fact the slab-like bonnet is more reminiscent of the Xylo.

Seriously yes... Although Mahindra has taken efforts to put in some new tech, an AT version is sorely missed. I like the dynamics and quality of the car but a clutch is a no for me considering my drive is 80% city.

Also hope they have fixed some of the niggles associated with the car. And they could have put in real DRLs instead of this look alike type parking lights.

Conversation mirror is not available on W10. Looks like it was moved to accommodate the sunroof switch.

As far as I know, the facelift uses a "smart" alternator which recharges the battery during braking and doesn't during acceleration.

I believe this is a marketing gimmick.

True brake energy regeneration system is likely to find place in hybrid version of XUV.

I am wondering what the marketing folks at M&M will name it.

Considering all the positive and negative points, one thing definitely stands out from Mahindra is their ability to listen to customers and actually implement it, at a time when manufacturers are launching facelifts with increase in prices, Mahindra has definitely done a terrific job this time without touching the prices of 2 variants and a marginal increase of 11000 rupees on W8. Tata has a lot to learn from their rival to even survive in the competition. Great going Mahindra hope you bring smiles on the faces of AT lovers very soon.

They beigified the interiors!!

While the interiors look very nice in the update, I am not a fan of the beige theme. The older darker black and purplish colour was better. The beige is lighter than the earlier brown/beige theme.

Moreover the dual tone seats looked very smart compared to the new all beige ones.

Why not offer the black/tan theme like the luxury brands like BMW, Audi, Merc. Those look really nice and will go well.
