Mod Note: Our XUV500 Facelift Report has been taken live at this link. Please continue the discussion over on the new thread. Thanks!

As per Motorbeam.com, the facelifted XUV500 is expected to launch as early as next month? Does anyone amongst us have similar info pls? I thought going by the spy-pics, the facelift was atleast 6 months away.

Liked:
1. The skid plate
2. Fog lamps moved upwards
3. Missing whiskers

Disliked:
1. The weird shaped LED inside the headlight unit.
2. The fog lamp housing. Just too big and gaudy.
3. The alloys

The XUV front was a case of an enthusiastic designer team going overboard. Should have been toned down a bit with subtle changes. I believe its a good opportunity lost. The pics are of really bad quality and may be once better quality pictures emerge, the design might make more sense. But currently, I don't like the new front.

Agree with SDP 100%:thumbs up

They could've designed the front end better. Lets hope the high quality pictures clears up the doubt in our heads regarding the updated look.

Same here; liked, except the nai front end.

Wishlist:
1. parcel shelf
2. some space to store luggage (don't know this can be achieved without increasing the WB, as someone has already posted) not just cubbyholes
3. the ability to turn the navigation OFF on-the-fly once it is started
4. an option or a variant in which the rearmost seats can be accessed without folding the left middle row seat. Maybe a 2+2+3 seater with the first 2 being driver and the co-driver.
5. a decently-priced reverse camera as standard.
6. better LEDs, the present ones emit a slightly bluish white that IMHO is cheap.

Edit: fellow XUVians, ever noted how difficult it is just to compile a wishlist for this wicked cheetah?
:D

Overall, I like the facelift. To me, it kinda looks like the Prado from the head on view.

A sliding 2nd & 3rd row should help with this. But I am NOT sure whether Mahindra wants to do it,so as to keep away from the taxi market. I do NOT think they need to be bothered about the image as this is a bumper hit already. Or probably keep this option for W6 & W8.

I thought this is already available for a 3.5K or so?

This was an opportunity for Mahindra to tone down the look a bit. I always found the XUV to be a bit overstyled in the minor details. By smoothing over some of the design elements the product life will be extended.

A few expected changes in the facelift XUV. Its not my wishlist but expectations to extract the best out of the beast.

1. Few cosmetic changes as already seen from the new images.

2. Keyless entry with push button start stop.

3. New Dashboard with better quality plastics specially the one used above the console.

4. Sunroof and power seats for W8.

5. New MID in drivers console with real time mileage, average speed, digital speed, gear shift indicator.

6. New ICE carried forward from Rexton with better sound quality, 1.5 million car standard.

7. Sliding 2nd and 3rd row seats and even 2nd row pilot seats as an option.

8. A new suspension setup to make the ride quality better in bad roads.

9. New improved brake setup.

10. Hydraulic assisted bonnet.

11. Central lock unlock switch for driver.

When XUV was launched in 2011 it was like less is more and with the facelift version it will be more is less. Just my point of view.

Exactly my reaction as well. Front certainly looks Prado inspired. Overall I prefer the current version over the upgrade from these images. Personally I like the whiskers on the current design as they break the mass of the bumper and prevent the front end to look overly big. The facelift makes it look more butch which is in line with what people expect from a SUV.

With the fog lamps pushed up I wonder how effective they will be, current ones do a good job.

You are right the reverse cam costs ~3K now.

While the front has been improved quite a bit, going easy on the foglamps design would have helped nail it. Much better than the initial design, IMHO.

Really nice of them to remove the whiskers.

But Mahindra should have increased the surface area of the black cladding under the front bumper to reduce the visual bulk of the bumper. Like say in the Duster.

The area in body colour bellow the headlights and grille should have been reduced.

Mahindra I am really disappointed with this front look. If properly designed from front and back this SUV can have much better looks. Please make it more simple and sober from front

Thanks for the rendering, the spy shot quality is so bad that XUV lovers would have imagined that the facelift job worsened the original look. Now it looks a sort of okay. What has been done inside is of greater importance though.
