Got it for 700 for the pair. Will post a review once I get the delivery.

The Phillips Xtreme Vision (55/60) 130+ from Amazon were perfect. I managed to replace them myself and they are still working great.

Bosch Clear Advantage Wipers from Snapdeal. Well, I never got the "Clear Advantage" from them but rather the Regular Bosch wipers. The MRP on that was approx 400/- whereas I was charged 700/-. I had a long trip that weekend and being Monsoon season I did not want to drive with my old wipers. I called Snapdeal and explained then that I will still use what I received but need a refund for the difference. They did not agree to that. The only option was a refund. Really sad.

Re: Would you buy Spares & Parts online?

I was looking for orginal ignition coils for my Honda Civic and came accross rockauto.com. It seems they ship to India. The cost of a Denso coil is 22 k for 4 in India while at Rock Auto its coming at 11k including shipping (unless i am wrong with the exchange rate thing). Has anybody used their services ?

Have noticed there are many negative reviews for the site on the net. May not be worth the trouble but i don't know.

Online spare parts

So I happened to come upon this website - https://boodmo.com

It looks like they have a great selection of spare parts. Seems easy to use and the customer service (when I asked a question) was good too. Disclaimer: I haven't actually bought anything from these guys yet but wanted to know if anyone else has tried?

In general, I'd quite like to be able to order a part online, get it shipped and install it myself. A single portal like this usually gets better deals too so it seems like a very good idea.

Re: Online spare parts

I've considered buying a minor electrical part from these people as a test. Will be done in the coming weeks.

I had bought AC Blower Fan from them on 06-03-2017 for our Xylo E8 Nov 2009 that has clocked 283K+ Kms.

Even though I gave the VIN no., the Fan was not like that came with the car. The New Fan does not have Ventilation Vents to cool off the Blower Motor beneath it. That means the design of new fan is different than old one.

I don't remember the shipping time required.

Edit
I wanted Only Fan and not complete Blower Motor Assembly. Hence while searching online (as local market guys told it is impossible to get only fan), came across this site and found only fan can be bought separately. And went ahead with purchase.

Re: Online spare parts

I have bought spares for my cabs from boodmo, a number of times.

Bumpers, door mirrors, tail lamps, head lamps, radiator assembly, even a cylinder head assembly.

Hyundai - Got genuine Hyundai Mobis parts, always cheaper than what the service centre asked me for. Including the shipping!

Tata - OEM parts are more or less the same price.

Datsun - OEM parts are cheaper than what the authorised service centres charge.

Their support is pretty helpful. While sourcing parts for the Datsun Go Plus, they got me parts which weren't already listed. I just sent them photographs and they sourced it and created a listing for me.

The cylinder head assembly for the Xcent came from Korea. No one had the part in stock. Not even Mobis. I got it checked from three different dealers. Boodmo ordered it for me and got it in 20-25 days, which was the same time, the dealers were asking me for. It was cheaper too.

Just to be sure, I always cross check the part number with the authorised service centre, before ordering.

Pros -

- Email customer service is fast & responsive
- Part I ordered arrived on time.

Cons -

- Forgettable domain name. Need to bookmark it.
- No cash on delivery option.
- Part ordered cannot be cancelled (they claimed the part is in transit)
- Took 9 days for delivery

Re: Would you buy Spares & Parts online?

I would definitely first check with the service center for the part cost and if it seems exorbitantly costly, I would look for online.

Dont want to play spoilsport here, but my car just returned from NASS with a brake disk and pad change. Just to have a compare, I checked the part number in boodmo and it turned out to be reverse.

NASS cost of front disk pair: 1750/-
bodmo cost of front disk OEM: 4374/- + shipping

Part number is question here is 40206-1HD0A.

Yes, the prices and even the part numbers in some cases are wrong on that site. So it's always advisable to cross check with offline sources before placing an order online.

Shashi

I am only trying to say, that if I would have depended fully on online price, I would've in great loss.
When we are talking about online shopping, generally experience of amazon or similar comes into mind which were matured market places, where vehicle parts online market is not in that level yet.
For me, for some minor part change I will go with offline anyway, but for major parts I will first check offline and then cross check with online. Only if the price difference is significant then only will go online.

Re: Would you buy Spares & Parts online?

Why does spareshub have a minimum order limit ? I am trying to source a rear wiper blade for my car and it is not letting me order it since it costs < Rs.450. Weird, since I am prepared to pay for shipping costs.
Amazon and others have this thing priced much higher and a few local shops that I tried stock only front wipers.

Tried Boodmo, part I was looking for wasn't available on other portals.

I ordered a tail light for Scorpio (old gen) and got it in 4 days. Although they charged about 200 for delivery, the excess over offline mode was only about 100. Installation was DIY. The shops/dealers where I can get the OEM part are at least 20kms away from me, so didn't want to invest half a day in getting it and tried the online route.

The packaging looked pretty bad. The part was basically in its original packaging, without any sort of cushioning around it. Being a glass/plastic part, it can get damaged in transit. But I guess they ship within the city only, so it doesn't need to withstand the rough handling at the airports/multiple warehouses.

It is definitely a convinient option for busy or lazy, or maybe both, folks.

Re: Would you buy Spares & Parts online?

boodmo.com is so expensive!!

The air filter is listed at INR 1842 and that's a joke, it just costs about 1/4 of that price. Similarly for other parts I checked like wiper blades or ORVM. All are marked up.

Not sure if that's the case for all cars. At least for the Fiesta, the parts are much much more reasonable with the dealer.

I just saw an advt for boodmo in the forum and clicked out of curiosity.
