More than the illustrations posted till now, the spy pics of vehicles testing in India closely resemble the model, which appeared on WCF last year.

It appears we are going to get a cheaper cousin of the Sandero.

Kayou sketch teased

The upcoming Renault small car's sketch has been teased by Renault India on their Facebook page. Here is a magnified picture, courtesy IAB:

Renault XBA: Now unveiled as the Kwid-image.jpg

It may be an entry-level car, but there is no doubting the Kayou's size - it appears to be appreciably bigger (& presumably more spacious) than its direct rivals. Renault is also suggesting the same with the hashtag #LiveForMore, which could mean "demand & get more (for the same money)".

The window line bears a clear resemblance to the Datsun RediGo concept. This is unsurprising, as both share the same platform and mechanicals. The GC is very generous, and the sketch indicates it will have slightly flared wheel arches, giving the Kayou a "cross hatch" look - a good way to differentiate it further from the Altos & Eons.

The bonnet looks big enough to take a 1.2 lit. NA petrol engine. I hope Renault & Datsun offer either the 1.2 lit. petrol found on the Nissan Micra Active / Datsun Go, or a new 3-cyl. 1.0 lit. petrol motor to take on the Alto k10 & Eon 1.0 Kappa. 800cc looks too small for what appears to be an Indica V2 sized car.
