Hyundai planning to refurbish showrooms pan India!

As a part of it's Global Dealership Space Identity (GDSI) initiative to create an unified experience, Hyundai India is planning to refurbish all of it's 415 dealerships across the country by 2017-18.

This will help customers to experience a premium, richer look at the showrooms and it's cars, while dealers will also get financial aid from the company to cover costs of refurbishment.

Hyundai has already commenced changing its dealership theme from the current blue to a more sober brown shade while the manufacturer is also providing financial support package to its dealers in a bid to cover costs of the refurbishment that could escalate to almost Rs. 1 crore.

Senior executives at the company have stated that apart from new colour schemes, the dealership revamp will also include the development of open space, modern furnishings and additional tech wizardry to deliver an elevated experience to the customer.

Hyundai India’s customers today are not only younger but also seek a richer touch-and-feel experience when upgrading to bigger cars.

I like tha way Hyundai is moving towards pushing itself into a more premium brand category. First, they refined their car's and have managed to put a more premium feel in them in terms of design & interior's and are now taking on showrooms. Good going!

Before they revamp their dealerships, they need to revamp their sales executives training. I don't know about their regular cars, but definitely for their higher end offerings. If there is a reason they aren't selling (and they are competent products - the Santa Fe, Elantra and the Sonata was) its largely because the sales people do not provide the treatment that a person spending 15l and above expects.

Hyundai is clearly trying very hard in India! First the lineup of cars and now an attempt to better the dealership experience.

I get the impression they have a very well laid out strategy for India: do what sells!

Completely agree.
The mindset of a person spending 15 lakhs and more would be completely different from one spending 5-10 lakhs to buy a car.
They should have an exclusive sales staff for the higher end cars who are trained well and have complete knowledge about the product and various features on offer.
