Re: The Maruti-Suzuki Ignis

The Ignis, relatively cheaper than the Swift ( I assume, it can't be priced as much as the Swift), gets the same DDIS engine that the Swift does, along with an AMT option too in the Diesel variants, I think this looks like Maruti is paving a way for the 90bhp DDIS to be plonked in the new Swift Diesel and the 1.6 DDIS in the Ciaz

The more premium (than swift) Baleno still uses the 74 bhp diesel. If the swift is launched in 90 bhp tune, it will further confuse the whole Maruti and Nexa line-up. The Baleno is only a year old and it will take a few years for an engine update. I dont think Maruti will make the Swift more powerful than the Baleno in the meanwhile.

Re: The Maruti-Suzuki Ignis

The prices are as following, diesel a bit higher priced IMO. Wonder where the new Swift would be placed.

Re: The Maruti-Suzuki Ignis

I dont think Alpha will make a good deal. With an approx addition of 70000 we can have Baleno which is far more better than Ignis.

This trim shall be a

Re: The Maruti-Suzuki Ignis

Prices Revealed from the Live webcast. Rs. 4.59 lacs - 7.80 lacs.

With the diesel having a price of 7.8 lacs in top trim and that too an introductory one, won't it be too expensive?

Development cost - 950 crores.

Meant for millennials according to Mr. Kalsy. "People who have ipad, starting their career after graduating from big B schools, this can be a gift from dad".

Re: The Maruti-Suzuki Ignis

Looks like the petrols are priced at par, but there has been a steep jacking-up in prices of the diesel variants at the last moment.

Particularly, the pricing of the top-end Alpha diesel is eye-watering!

Forget the lone, barebones Sigma petrol variant, which has been used solely to show the entry price point. Now even the Alpha petrol is beyond VFM!

All in all, about 40,000-50,000 rupees more expensive than what could have been a true VFM offering.

Disappointed with the pricing of the regular variants. The Baleno, and even the Brezza/EcoSport, with the addition of a few thousands, seem like better options now.

Re: The Maruti-Suzuki Ignis

Whoa! Such an overpriced car.
That too these prices are INTRODUCTORY!
On Road Pune, it will cost between 5.3 lakhs to close to 9.1 lakhs.

With this MSIL has made sure that next gen Swift can further be made overpriced.
Let's see how the market responds

Re: The Maruti-Suzuki Ignis

It is quite overpriced. A car i was keenly looking forward to as a replacement for the Ritz but i will have to start looking elsewhere

Definitely overpriced, Bangalore OTR will cross 9L for the Zeta Variant AMT and Alpha will be closer to 10L for the diesel engine options

I echo the same sentiments. The Alpha Diesel is absurdly priced IMO and we are just discussing "Introductory Prices".

Wonder how the upcoming new Swift is going to be positioned !

Maybe the Swift and Ignis pricing will overlap and probably that's where the Nexa concept comes to rescue. As you said, Ignis is clearly overpriced by 40-50 K.

It will still command a huge 8-10 week waiting period and the Figo will still sell only a few dozen units.
