Hmmm, 22kmpl from a 1.4ltr, 68bhp car..........under ideal conditions. You find that unbelievable?

The Ford Fiesta 1.4 litre Duratec Petrol was flagged off by Singh, Joint Director VRDE at 12:37 pm 29th July. After traveling continuously for 1,183 kms, the car finally ran out of petrol at 10:11 am the next morning, nearly 22 hours later! The car extracted 22.43 kms from every litre of petrol.
Thats an average speed of 53kmph!!!

Anyway, congrats to Ford/Autocar for this achievement.

Actually... for the petrol - whats the record?... I mean is it that "this is the best from a 1.4ltr engine"
Coz.. run a 800 with ac at more than that speed and it'll return more.

This record has to be for 4 door sedan with engine size 1.4Ltr or something specific like that.

I didnt understand - who takes the credit for this stupendous FE? - the car, the expert drivers, the fuel or 1000 km of (carpet smooth) road?
It's a cruel joke on the average Joe Ford customer, who will be dreaming of replicating such wayout FE's on bumpy city roads/stop-start traffic!

OH MY GOD!!! HYPE!!! And all figures WRONG!!! Look at Fiesta's Fuel tank capacity. Its 45 Ltrs. And they say "The petrol car travelled continuously for 1,183 kilometres and extracted 22.43 kilometres from every litre of petrol." Out of a 45 Ltr Tank if we get an average of 22.43 the car should have ran only 45x22.43= 1009.35. So how did they covered remaining 173.65 KM!!!???. Also the usable fuel tank capacity would be around 5-10% less!!!! So the difference is.... (1,183 KM - (40x22.43=897.2 KM)===285.8 KM. Did the team dragged the car with engine off for 285.8 KMs??

Hehe, thats like awarding the Veyron, the most fuel effcient car with a W16 engine.

You know what this is, it's just something Ford and Aurtocar cooked up to prove that ideal conditions can increase FE by a great deal. It was just a real world vs ideal world FE test.

If anyone is to go by this, then the Alto has to be the most reliable car in India is it's the only car to have completed a 24hr run without stopping (Overdrive test).

NEW DELHI, April 17 (UNI) — Daewoo Motor Corporation’s best-selling car Matiz broke a world record by driving into the Guinness Book of Records as the most fuel efficient car with a fuel efficiency of 32.01 km to a litre of petrol.
With this, the car broke the General Motors’ group company Holden’s model Barina’s world record of 29.11 km to a litre of petrol, a statement issued here said today.
Matiz entered the Guinness Book of World Records for an economy drive from Melbourne in South Darwin in the North on 121.83 litres of regular unleaded fuel covering a distance of 3,899.8 km. Against Barina’s record of 1,019 km, Matiz stretched 1,111 km from Kulgera to Elliot on 34.44 litres.

Even for the TDi the figures are wrong.... 1570.8km at 31.48 km/lit means 49.89 lits of diesel was consumed... tank again has the capacity of only 45lit... were these people of the opinion that no one will verify their results?? otherwise even if (i dont know for sure,,,, just hypothesizing) they had to publicize the fiesta, they could have given the wrong figures, correctly!!!
