I liked the front head lamps. Very nice move from Audi. The drivers car image of BMW would now be narrowed , at least to some extend. The Estate version wont be making into our land i believe. Isn't it on the same platform of the new Superb?

Doubtful,they have brought in only 2 engines, the 1.4 TSI and the 2.0 TDI for homologation. Not sure that they will bring it in either. It maybe made available with the S line in future.

Will we get a manual transmission with this engine? Like the Q3S variant this engine may be the A4 base variant with a manual transmission.

The all-new A4 is scheduled to be launched by August this year.

It will come in with a 2.0L oil burner under it's hood, which will produce 190 HP of power and will be mated to Audi's S Tronic 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox. Petrol options might be limited to the 1.4L direct-injection turbo unit which produces 150 HP of power.

What’s also big news is the possibility of this engine being offered with the option of a six-speed manual gearbox. The rationale is that such a version could be priced at a lower price point and would be of particular interest to chauffeur-driven and corporate buyers, and even enthusiasts who are devoid of manual gearbox options in the segment.

Let’s not forget, Audi India has seen success with its strategy to launch a lower-priced, manual transmission-equipped version of the Q3 SUV too. But, like the Q3 S and the outgoing A4, both 2.0 diesel versions of the new A4 will have their engines channel power to the front wheels only; the Quattro all-wheel-drive system is not expected on either version. However, there is a possibility of Audi bringing the Quattro-equipped A4 with a 272hp 3.0-litre turbo-diesel V6 to India.

Internationally, the new A4 is available with 1.4- and 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engines and Audi is understood to be studying the prospects of bringing the smaller of the two engines to India. The 150hp 1.4-litre direct-injection turbo petrol is the same engine that powers the Skoda Octavia 1.4 TSI.

Audi has not finalised trim levels yet, but the A4 is likely to be available in two or three variants. The 2.0 diesel manual and 1.4 petrol A4 will come with fewer frills than the rest of the range. Top-spec cars will be generously loaded with equipment like Audi’s Matrix LED headlights, fully digital instruments (Virtual Cockpit in Audi speak), MMI infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, Bang & Olufsen sound system, wireless phone charging, three-zone climate control, ambient lighting, a sunroof and driving modes (Drive Select), among other features.

The luxury sedan is expected to be priced in the sub-40 lakh rupee segment, competing with the BMW 3-series, the Mercedes-Benz C Class, the Jaguar XE and the Volvo S60.

A 1.4 litre petrol engine would be a disappointment. Hope they offer a choice of petrol engines. At least in Delhi NCR some people are wary of diesel engines.

Today they have banned 10 year old cars with diesel engines, tomorrow the ban may be for vehicles which are 8 years or 7 years old. The way things are going , nobody knows. It is a bad feeling to invest/spend 40 lakhs on a car and to know that after 5-6 years, even with a mileage of 15000-20000 kms to get a feeling that you cannot drive your after a couple of years in your city.

The new Audi A4 was spotted on a testing run in Pune, with the facelifted Audi A3 in tow.

The new Audi A4 when launched could have an option of 2 powertrains - a 2.0L diesel capable of producing 190HP of power and 400Nm of torque mated to the S Tronic 7-speed DCT and a 6-speed manual, and a bigger 3.0L V6 diesel which produces 272HP.

The facelifted A3 will come with newly-styled front and rear bumpers, including new headlamp & tail-light sections, and a Q7-inspired front grille.

At the core of the A4 range will be the 2-litre diesel that churns out 188bhp and 400Nm torque mated either to Audi’s S Tronic 7-speed DCT or a 6-speed manual gearbox. Also on offer could be a 3-litre V6 diesel that makes an impressive 272bhp.

The new A4 is now bigger on the outside and lighter at the same time by 120kg, thanks to Volkswagen’s new MLB platform. The interiors have been completely revamped and are cutting edge and also, there is more space on the inside.

The new A3 is expected to be a midlife face lift. The new A3 that we spotted has new headlamps and tail lamps along with new bumpers on both the front and the rear as well. Following every other car manufacturer’s idea of a common design language across models, even the new A3 gets the typical Audi-esque grille now seen on the Q7.

I don't know how this works - A3 has a 1.8L 180 BHP engine and A4 will have 1.4L 150 BHP?


That said, car is a beauty. I took a lot of pics and videos in CES 2016 (Jan). I'll probably add them to this thread.

I have great regards for Audi and I was simply in love with the whole product (which I saw in CES 2016)

Why on earth would Audi decide to launch it with a puny engine compared to Skoda Octavia with 1.8L 180 BHP? It also fares horribly with Merc / BMW / Volvo who bring in much more powerful engines.

Also there is a thread on Q3 imported with the same 1.4L engine

Does anyone else think Audi is crazy?

The only case 1.4L engine will have made sense is if it is launched in the base trim, at significantly lower price tag - possibly even with a manual tranny. In that case, these cars will solve the purpose of both bringing the buyers to the showroom (with the lure of lower price tag; at the time they'll likely buy at higher version) and catering to the section that wants the Audi badge more than anything else/have very low running (and thus will not mind less spirited car).

However, that doesn't seem to be the case. Going by the pics, the car surely doesn't seem like a base version. I guess the 2.0 TFSI as well as 2.0TDI will also come in due course of time.

The interiors look classy, understated and seem to ooze of quality. I am an absolute sucker for Audi's clean, proportionate designs.
