SCOOP! Maruti Dzire AMT caught testing (ZDi variant)

The good folks from Gaadiwaadi have captured on camera what seems to be the DZire AMT on testing rounds, in it's ZDI avatar.

Quote:
Not only the spied car was in diesel, but it was the top of the line ‘ZDI’ version equipped with ABS & Airbags. So, it will be first AMT car from Maruti Suzuki that will offered with Airbags/ABS and in Diesel.

Great Scoop.

Just wished that Maruti had fixed the beige extravagance with this facelift!!
Who in his sane mind thought of providing beige for the ACC controls!!

As for the AMT, its a great scoop and will be one of the most frugal and economical pseudo Autos in the country.
The sale charts will burn further and may catapult the Best seller past the 20K mark!!

Great scoop and hopefully this time ZDi does mean two airbags and ABS in it along with the AMT.

As for providing beige for ACC controls, my understanding is that once we set a temperature on the ACC it stays put not matter how many times we switch the car off/on. Meaning it does its work without any manual interference.

In that case, beige shouldn't be much of a concern isn't it? Anyway, these are trivial, just IMO.

Main point being a Maruti diesel Automatic. Hope it gets launched soon.

And with this move, Maruti-Suzuki officially rings the death bell for the Zest, not that Tata is selling them in hordes anyway. This could also make the Dzire match Alto's sales figures every month.

re: SCOOP! Maruti Dzire AMT caught testing (ZDi variant)

So at last Maruti decided to come out with a diesel sedan. better late than never. But given their position in India I think they should have tried this earlier. Hope they come out with an AMT and CVT for Swift too. A Swift sport with a CVT as in UK would be a nice offering.

ZDi in AMT is a great move by maruti. Hoping it adds around 80K to the price of Zdi MT it will be the cheapest diesel automatic in the market.

ZDi (Safety features) + Diesel + Automatic + Maruti + Fiat Multijet + VFM Pricing (Hopefully) = Big Success in India.

Now let's hope the launch is soon !

Won't the Zest ZMA still be cheaper than ZDi AMT? Or am I missing something?

No AMT supplies, buddy. Remember, Maruti was testing the waters with the Celerio AMT. The gearbox was imported as no one was sure whether the market will accept or reject the AMT.

The going premium for the AMT is 40 - 50k. On what grounds do you find 80k to be acceptable?

Re: SCOOP! Maruti Dzire AMT caught testing (ZDi variant)

Good to see that Maruti is finally beginning to take safety in their AT offerings more seriously. Till late last year, one could not buy a Maruti AT with Airbags/ABS. Now we have the Ciaz, Celerio ZXI( One airbag) and now this Dzire AMT. Hopefully the new launches also will continue this trend.

Unfortunately the Zest was not able to really capitalize on the first mover advantage it had being the cheapest diesel AT.

Re: SCOOP! Maruti Dzire AMT caught testing (ZDi variant)

If the Dzire AMT is being tested then can we assume the Swift AMT would be next?

Honestly, the Dzire (And Swift whine's launched) AMT would be around or a little more then 10 lakhs on road? Wouldn't that be too costly for a car boasting of cheap AMT technology? Why not spend a little more & buy the Polo / Vento DSG instead?

According to Carwale, Dzire ZDi on-road in South Mumbai is 9.33L and Vento Diesel DSG Comfortline is 13.2L. Even if we add 60K to the price for the AMT, it will only cross 10L by a little (10K maybe).

Instead of paying 60-80K extra and getting an Automatic that one doesn't need to pray all day that it will not fail, why would they spend 3L more and get the Vento without the peace of mind that Maruti readily provides?

Re: SCOOP! Maruti Dzire AMT caught testing (ZDi variant)

This is terrific effort by Maruti, looks like they have provided a hand rest as well.

Is the Dzire rattle prone, if not taking into the convenience factor, I don't mind waiting for this car, which should give us peace of mind. I have an ABT service center right beside my home and nothing can be more convenient than this.

If only diesel versions get the AMT, then its a major blow to TATA Zest which is already having poor numbers, sadly!
