They are the only company with a consistent design standard that improves with every generation. The X451 looks like a car that would get appreciation in every global motor show, and if they succeed in India, a market that's tough for them given their unreliable past offerings, they'd be good to succeed in other places.

I hope they don't skimp on the safety features and structural integrity for the models they sell here in India (like some manufacturers do). Also, I haven't seen any NCAP crash test results for their recent models. I know they have an in-house testing facility, but when it comes to safety, independent tests are definitely needed. I hope they are thinking of all this. I really want them to succeed!

Tata Motors shapes are always radical and the designs, definitely upmarket. If only, they can follow up with the fit and finish. Even, the H5X is a looker. Tata was stressing on lightweight platform, which was a bane in their earlier cars. Hope and wish Tata motors to maintain quality in their future vehicles.

Wonder why they are unveiling a concept when test mules are already on the road. They should have unveiled the pre-production version.

I think they learnt that lesson from Nexon. They displayed concept in 2014, production version in Feb 2016, and finally launched it around late 2017. Many people became impatient due to long waiting period (from production version to launch).

This knocks i20 and Baleno both far out of the park. But will India accept it's own brand.

Definitely Tata have pulled a winner with this car. The design is just wow. But what with the front glass area near the bumper. doesn't it seems a bit odd?
P.S.: I am new to TBHP and this is my first post so please pardon me if there are any mistakes in this.

Look at the various cars popping out of 45X architecture. There seems to be a Sub 4m SUV and sedan lined up in near future.

Check the video at 0:09 and 0:11 secs.

Fresh concept pics released by Tata Motors via Cartoq:

Quote:
The interiors of the premium hatchback concept were not revealed at the Expo but the newly released pictures give us an idea of what Tata’s thinking in terms of its latest car. There are a lot of futuristic touches on the car, and most of it may not make it to the production version. The steering wheel looks inspired by Playstation and a four seat premium hatchback is not practical enough for Indian conditions. All these bits are expected to be changed in the production model.

re: Tata developing a premium hatchback, codenamed "X451"

This probably is their best design ever, even has a higher impact than what the original IDEA designed Indica had on its unveil. Even if the actual car is a lot toned down from this, its still going to turn heads like nothing else in its category and even above. This is probably more Italian than what Italy has been dishing out as of late!

Awesom Job Tata, will eagerly wait for the actual car being unveiled. Hopefully there will be a new-generation engine in sync with what the developed world expects these days (No Turbo charged but Indirect injection stuff)

Tata's X451 hatchback spotted testing in Mumbai by a Motorbeam spy.

Quote:
The test mule is heavily camouflaged and reveals very few details. Being in its early stages of development, the test mule gets temporary headlights and tail lights. The test mule spotted was running on steel wheels.

re: Tata developing a premium hatchback, codenamed "X451"

Spotted during a testing run at night by a Zigwheels reader.

Quote:
It’s clear that it is the 45X under all that camouflage, that window line which dips under the ORVM and rises sharply towards the rear is a cut-copy-paste from the concept car. Also noticeable is how Tata has kept the rear door design clean by integrating the rear door handle on the C-pillar, like the new Maruti Suzuki Swift. The kink near the taillamp is also prominent, but not as much as on the concept. It can be assumed that the final product will look very similar to the concept.
The photos also manage to give us a little peek inside, the instrument cluster gets two analogue dials surrounding a digital driver information display. Our spy also told us that one of the test mules (yes, there were more than one on test - maybe with different engines?) also had a floating centre multimedia screen like the Nexon, we are not sure if this is a temporary solution or the final design.
