Still no clue on the launch dates right? Will it come with an automatic?

It likely will given market trends, but if the Nexon is anything to go by (and it obviously is), it'll be an AMT that is offered, unfortunately.

the new hatchback will sport a large free-standing touchscreen atop the centre console. The detail is in line with Tata Motors’ description of car cabins built to its latest Impact Design 2.0 design philosophy. The carmaker had announced ‘segment leading’ human-machine interface screens, and the spy photograph does point to a larger-than-average centre touchscreen
Quote:
The spy pic shows analogue dials, and what looks like a traditional T-shaped centre console with air con vents under the centre screen. What is also visible is an all-black theme for the cabin, though, the final product could follow a different colour combination

Tata is sure on a roll! In a very short span of time they have managed to completely refresh their offering! First the Hexa; then the Tiago and Tigor and then the Nexon. And now the Harrier and this hatch in the pipeline! Even the Hexa is not doing that bad, considering it is not an all new product like the others. With the Tiago and the Nexon pulling in the bigger numbers, Tata should get a very similar response to the Harrier as well, since that segment is quite open. This X451 hatch has a much tougher job on hands since the Baleno and i20 elite dominate the segment completely.

Really refreshing to see the product line-up from the Tatas. With all these new launches and success of recent launches, Tata is on a roll. Off - topic: Might be a good time to buy Tata Motors shares. They are close to their 52 week lows.

Their share price is more linked to JLR's performance rather than TM's domestic sales. That notwithstanding, your advise might still hold good.

Agree. But the product line-up does look promising. They have an uphill task though to make people forget their sins in the Indica and Indigo vehicles

re: Tata developing a premium hatchback, codenamed "X451"

Thanks to AshishD for sending these images in. Heartfelt gratitude for sharing it with other enthusiasts via this Team-BHP page!

Ashish shares the following observations:
Quote:
1) From front side, Tata's humanity line is clearly distinctive. It's exactly similar to the concept car. I am sure that the production version of this car will be really spectacular!
2) The car seems to offer plenty of interior space, like all Tata cars. The side profile shows the driver position which give us a sense of the space offered.
3) This one seems to be a base variant as alloy wheels are missing and the car has black door handles.
4) Rear door lines suggest that this car will offer a well reclined rear seats. It must be offering a good comfortable seating position to the rear occupants.
5) Rears spoiler is integrated but the concept car had a different spoiler design.
6) Lengthwise, it looked bigger than Hyundai I20, equal to Baleno but lesser than Honda Jazz
7) Another interesting thing is the boot - it looks like it will offer decent boot space with a low loading lip for easy access.

Spotted 45X in pune. This seems to be a lower model as there is a pop up screen like Nexon, however it is not touch screen.

re: Tata developing a premium hatchback, codenamed "X451"

From the video above, it looks like the 45X is going to redefine interior space like how the first Indica did in the 90s. More car per car?

Also, earlier test mules seemed to have a different shell (more rounded/bulbous, window line) compared to the recent ones (very similar to concept car, sharper). Anyone else who thinks so?

After TATA's Harrier now it is the turn of Tata 45X hatchback - Spotted at the Kari Motor Speedway.

A few weeks after the Tata Harrier SUV was caught undergoing high-speed testing at the Kari Motor Speedway, the 45X hatchback has been spied undergoing the same exercise at the race track. The tests are likely to fine-tune suspension settings and dynamic traits of the upcoming Tata hatchback

Some more pics from Rushlane. Interiors feature a large touch screen and dual tone dash.

^ The first picture seems to be of the Harrier though. The touch screen and the handbrake makes me believe so.

It's not. Both have similar interiors. Below is the Harrier interior.
