Production version spotted during a high altitude test in Ooty by a WheelMonk reader.

Quote:
The latest spy images fully reveals the new alloy wheel design, LED tail light design, front headlamps and fog lamp design, and more. These design elements used in the camouflaged car indicate that the production model will be very much similar to the concept model that was showcased earlier this year.

The model undergoing high-altitude tests was a diesel unit. It is unclear if Tata will use an uprated version of its 3-cylinder diesel engine, or opt for the 4-cylinder unit that powers the Zest. The test mule did have the typical diesel engine clatter, but with all the damping, it was impossible to point out to what engine is under the hood.

When is it supposed to launch - Mar 2019? Since it's already in production guise, don't think they'll wait till Oct 2019 (H7X is lined up for then I believe).

PS: TN 37 is where Jeyam cars are registered. So a JTP version of this also is lined up?

Love the proportions on this one.

Wish they had gone for regular door handles for the rear doors though. Not sure about the general opinion, but I don't find it very user friendly on the Swift or the CH-R.

Jayem does a lot of testing for both Mahindra and Tata. Suspension, steering etc. So, might not be a JTP as the current specs haven't been released yet.

Could see a rear disk caliper on the first pic.
Can be more powerful diesel and petrol motors?

This one design element, rear door hatch in place of quarter glass is so inconvenient and out of place!

Does the rear door latch on this position has any technical advantage? Asking experts here on Team-BHP.

I can't see much benefit design-wise and it's a big practical difficulty, especially for elders. IMHO , not at all suits a family car positioning in India. Seems more like a swift copy move, much like everyone following the ugly Apple notch in smart phones.

That looks just like a drum brake to me. I can see no caliper behind that rear alloy.

And while we are at the topic of discussing the availability of the rear disc brake, I would also like to challenge the real requirement of them. For a car that weighs just about a ton, the rear disc brake is more of a psychological comfort - like how my mother feels secure only after locking the doors when our car gets going faster, though all that it does is prevent someone from opening the door from outside.

Sedans from the C segment, and even the heavier compact SUVs don't sport one - so a premium hatchback with similar power and speed capability and lesser mass should do just fine.

The part visible between the alloy is actually the edge of the road, such an huge gap and good GC seems to create that illusion.

Good friend DJ Bro made this high-res rendering of the 45X hatchback based on the latest spyshots:

re: Tata developing a premium hatchback, codenamed "X451"

Looks really sharp with a mixture of Seat LEON and new Skoda design language. Wondering what new technologies like Automatic emergency braking or blind spot assist etc are being tested (if at all!!). Wasn't there a govt. regulation to make those mandatory starting 2020? If so why are the manufacturers shying away from trying them out right now rather than waiting for a govt. regulation to make it mandatory? This way design and integration of those systems would be seamless and troublefree.

What amuzes me with indian manufacturers is the lack of any real technology being introduced! Not even xenon lights are being introduced! Every tech we get is a copy of the one from the western world! What is unique to our manufacturers?

Is it me only that feels the rendering by this guy looks so good that I don't think the original version may not be as good. I sometimes wonder why don't car makers take the help of these rendering artists to bring out better looking cars?
