+1 that. Off late I have observed this trend. Not only does it feel claustrophobic inside but adds to the overweight weight of the vehicle even if by a little margin. The feeling of a roomy interior is something special. IMO, a tapering, narrow rear window from the outside somehow feels odd to look at.

The x451 hatch is powered by a 1.2L, 3-cylinder, naturally aspirated, all-new petrol engine, as per a birdie.

It will also have a mild hybrid option.

So they'll have five 1.2 petrol engines in production?

1.2 4 cylinder 90ps for Bolt and Zest.

1.2 3 cylinder NA petrol 84bhp for Tiago and Tigor.
1.2 3 cylinder new NA petrol for X451.

1.2 3 cylinder turbo 105hp for Nexon.
1.2 3 cylinder turbo 114hp for JTP twins.

Given how unimpressive the NA 3 cylinder was in Tiago - the premium X451 should get the Nexon turbo mill to be competent.

Why can't they just consolidate all these to 1 engine and different power outputs?! Make something super solid and drive versions leading to scale of manufacturing rather than experiment with so many engines.

Thanks for clicking this - should be a t-bhp exclusive. I love how the headlamps look like, from the rear 3/4 view. Very close to the concept version.

My question is, are any of the 3 cylinder 1.2 engines ever going to result in a 1.6 4 cylinder engine? If not, then developing a 3 cylinder 1.2 is the most pointless excercise ever, and someone at TM is responsible for burning a lot of cash unnecessarily.

This one has a lot of Tiago in it. If you see the profile, the D-pillar is almost Tiago along with the belt line and the front, after the A-Pillar, is like Tiago too. Interesting times at Tata. I also wonder if they have plans to sell these car internationally in mature markets.

Great job! Good that you weren't noticed!

When I saw the 45X for the first time and started taking a video of it, the test driver came out and insisted that I delete the video. He was seriously pissed off! This guy was shouting at me but I ignored him to glance at the interiors! The instrument cluster looked attractive from what I remember.

Anyway, I do have the videos

re: Tata developing a premium hatchback, codenamed "X451"

Although it just another hatch in the market, but it's a big one for Tata. It's the beginning of a new gen of vehicles to come on a brand new AMP platform. Till now the Tiago,Tigor and Nexon were based on the existing platforms. Now this AMP is supposed to spawn a sedan, MUV and so on similar to what heartect platform is to Maruti. This will be lighter stiffer and was engineered to suit hybrid/EV vehicle development. Also this same platform was being discussed with Volkswagen for their emerging car markets as a JV with Tata. Eagerly waiting for this one to hit the road.

And, the images have been copied to a Rushlane article, already. No credits except for the watermark already here.

Please take legible screenshots from the video and post here! The test driver may get pissed off, but there's nothing illegal about clicking pics of a car on a public road. That's the whole idea of camouflaging the test cars - that's the best any car manufacturer can do.

I've heard of test drivers politely asking not to click their test mules. Whether we listen to them or not is our business!

re: Tata developing a premium hatchback, codenamed "X451"

Nice scoop. The car is certainly a departure from the usual curvy Tata hatchbacks. Hope the platform is lighter.

High time they consolidate. 1 NA version, 2 regular turbo and one special turbo?
