Sides and rear looks 90% like a polo. Front is unmistakably ugly swift ( personal opinion). Engine and performance figured sub par than competing premium hatches. Maybe 90 hp tuning with 190 nm torque can make it an worthy competitor. Swift's handling if carried over is an usp.

+1000000 on that would love the 1.6 on it or the 1.0 with direct injection and a turbo charger mated to manual gearbox in India which would undercut the GT twins in pricing due to the manual trannny. Would love the 6 speed transmission on this. Handling and dynamics package of the swift on this with the above engine options would mean 6-8 month waiting periods.

Please for heavens sake don't plonk the 1.2 or 1.4 in India please give us something different this time.

Sure it would be nice to see their new small displacement motors as well. I however, crave the old G series, M series and J series naturally aspirated petrol units with strong internals which made them feel powerful in stock form and bloody quick if turbocharged infinite mods could be done on these older motors and I'd just love it if the company used the Baleno as a fitting last hurrah to one of those characteristically Suzuki motors before the age of downsizing, overcomplicated electricals etc. And yes, no K series please!

Re: Team-BHP Scoop Pics! Maruti YRA / Fronx Hatchback, uncamouflaged!

Maruti Suzuki will launch the YRA hatchback in October in India. Will Channel through Nexa.

Most likely Baleno will not be the name chosen for India.

Re: Team-BHP Scoop Pics! Maruti YRA / Fronx Hatchback, uncamouflaged!

Comparisons are but obvious to what it will over lap with S-Cross. The most pertinent question being over lap one would see with the S-Cross DDIS200. They WILL price it below the S-Cross variant for variant. But will be interesting to note, how it fits against the I20.

Of course the other interest being the Turbo Charged petrol engine. We have not heard much on that front from Maruti. Hence I hope, we may get the 1.2 and 1.4L versions for India as both are available here. The 1.4L version should be a classic to drive given the weight and proportions of the hatch.

Another food for thought: Profiles being very similar between and the hatch and the S-Cross; can potentially go against them. Very much like the Vento and Jetta looking alike.

Since the YRA will have more petrol options they can afford to price it lower. This is one reason I guess S Cross was not offered in the petrol variant.

Maybe the top end diesel version will be a tad below the Alpha DDiS200 and price it at 9.9 lakhs ex showroom- pan India

Since YRA is <4m the S Cross will have interior space advantage.

Maruti to bring mild hybrid tech, Boosterjet engine to India.

The Boosterjet engine is a downsized direct-injection turbo petrol motor that could be first seen here in Maruti's upcoming YRA hatchback.

Good suggestion by Autocar.

Praying to God that good sense prevail for the folks at Maruti, and to name this car as the good old ZEN, or SuperZEN.

Re: Team-BHP Scoop Pics! Maruti YRA / Fronx Hatchback, uncamouflaged!

The Suzuki Baleno (YRA) is scheduled to go on sale in the UK from next summer onwards.

Suzuki's iK-2 concept from the Geneva motor show will reach production next year in the form of the new Baleno B-segment hatchback, which will be unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month.

The Baleno will go on sale in the UK next summer and is described as combining "styling design, a spacious interior and new technologies".

The Baleno will be the first model to be powered by Suzuki's new turbocharged 1.0-litre petrol Boosterjet engine. A
mild hybrid version will also
be available, but likely not at the car's launch.

Suzuki says the car's layout, and the materials used in its construction, have been geared towards reducing weight, "in order to meet the rigorous size and weight requirements specific to compact cars".

The Baleno sits on a new-generation Suzuki platform, which is expected underpin more new models from the Japanese manufacturer.

IMO, Baleno would be an apt name. It does bring you a quick association/recall of the name from the subconscious. And most people would not recall it as a name that did not do well earlier.

The Autocar editor wants Suzuki to name this car 'Zen' . In what angle does this car resemble the concept or spirit of Zen.

If Maruti missed an opportunity in naming a car Zen, that would be the A-star which had the same soul as Zen.

Totally and humbly disagree. The YRA comes more closer to the original zen than any other Maruti ever since. Long slung dimensions and proper 2 box shape. The YRA actually reminds me of a jelly bean, which incidentally is what Maruti used to call the Zen's shape back in the good old days.

I would still love this car to be called 'Baleno', but 'Zen' would be great as well. I hope it remains just as fun to drive as well.

A-star doesn't even come close. Its a sporty tall boy hatch.

The New Baleno caught on video, testing in the national capital region of Delhi.

Suzuki Baleno will also mark the debut of the company's newly-developed 1.0-litre BOOSTERJET petrol motor. While the specs of the motor are not yet revealed, we know that it will be a frugal engine, offering a good performance and torque, thanks to a turbocharger. This engine will also be offered with the India-spec model of the Baleno, along with other standard petrol and diesel motors.

Re: Team-BHP Scoop Pics! Maruti YRA / Fronx Hatchback, uncamouflaged!

Is this car actually targeted for Diwali launch? I see no marketing/dealer related activities. Considering that wraps will be taken off it for the first time in the Frankfurt show on 17th Sep, isn't commercial launch of Nov a little too soon for this?

BTW, I am waiting for this car - for the simple reason that Suzuki sees this natural successor as a 'wow' factor hatch Swift was at one point of time. Of course, game has moved on since then. But, since this is a truly a global car for Suzuki, I expect this to be high quality product, something we can't expect from India/Asia specific models.
