hmmm.. my guess was right, Alto had to be their reincarnation of M800 and maruti could not keep a competitor within itself.

I think the only thing I would miss on M800 from Alto wouldbe power brake. I recently drove a M800, powersteering was surely a miss, but the most important thing that I had to work on was the brakes. I had to really stamp it down. I guess I did better use both my left, so that both leg muscles develop

There was one more thing which I want you'll to answer, which is more spacious and how. Specs show that Alto is spacious, but both are tiny cars, which according to you'll do you find more spacious. Dont consider the dashboard area because M800 has a pathetic one as compared to alto anyway!!

Dude, if there is an 'i' as suffix in Maruti car's version, consider it has a power steering. Maruti started introducing LXi, VXi when it introduced the power steering in its cars. Alto LXi has power steering!

well compared to an 800, an alto is a mansion... (i think i have been using this mansion word way too often)... any way... specs do speak the truth... the seats are more upright and the car is just a little longer, so i get a wee bit more space in my alto (i'm 6.1")... the headroom is also greater... the width is also just a tad bit more which allows 3 ppl to sit in the back (not comfortably but yes better than they would in an 800....)
Well basically, while getting out of an 800, i look like a fool (have to try all sorta sqeezing maneouvres)... not the case with the alto....

Yes theoritically.. alto is spacious.... but.. practically.. useless space.
If I sit in the front noone can sit behind me!!. in an 800, some can.
We as a family of 4... have gone out together in the alto 3-4 times in 4 years. Its just so much in-your-face feel.

I don't know about you all, but the US civic coupe and the sedan have more difference between them the the 800 and ALTO.

Does the 5gear M800 really give 18 kmpl ??
Does it make that the most FE car around?

Regarding resale value, i remember reading in some other thread that 5gear M800 actually sell quickest at Maruti True Value. Is it that there are too few of them around?

Its surprising to read in this thread that they have less resale value.

Also what is the comparison between the 5gear M800 vs the Zen ? Or is there no comparison ?

Mine 800 5 speed gives me 16 in b'lore traffic and 19-21kmpl during long drives depends upon speed. Top speed currently around 118-120kmph.

Resalve value ? All Maruti mechanics been telling me not to sell this car from day1. It's reliability is top class, did 3000 kms in 10 days last august... acorss karnataka.. remember last year rains ? It has taken on the worst roads in N. kar. that was when the car had done some 56k kms. Still going strong at 72k. I have done some non stop blr-sringeri, blr-ooty in this year.
My Ac usage is almost 2% (only when it's raining to demist)

You can try this topic... http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/long-t...ti-800-dx.html

Otherwise if you want to know anything specific about the car you can ask me.... we have one for the last 6.5 years.... still running strong at 65k kms.
