re: Scoop! Third-gen Skoda Superb spotted testing in India EDIT: Launched at Rs. 22.68 lakhs!

Received the following SMS earlier today from VK-iSKODA

"The ultimate in space, comfort, safety and technology - the all new SKODA Superb is almost here. Sign up to know what's in store - http://bit.do/newsuperb "

I don't ever recollect signing up to receive updates from Skoda.

Scoop! Third-gen Skoda Superb spotted testing in India

Checked out the new gen superb today and must say it is quite a handsome car.

Masks its bulk very well inspite of longer wheelbase and length and width. Gone is the limousine feel.

This one is very well proportioned.

Now only if Skoda prices it right they have a sure shot winner on their hands.

Loved the key. Feels very upmarket. Don't know if it's the same one as the new Octavia's

Same design as the Octavia's key plus the chrome. Octavia's key is all black.

re: Scoop! Third-gen Skoda Superb spotted testing in India EDIT: Launched at Rs. 22.68 lakhs!

I just got the confirmation that 177 bhp is standard on all 2L diesel irrespective of L&K or Style variant.

But 177 bhp ? Isnt that the new A4 spec 2L Diesel. I was expecting 190hp from this 2L, kind of confused now

but this one didn't come with the flippy key. Though there was a "valet key" hidden. but that's about it.

The particular variant was L&K, and that too in petrol. Unfortunately the staff at the dealership was not very sure about the variants that will come at the time of the launch - and surprisingly was kind of sure that the diesel will not see the light of the day for atleast a few months. I always believed that the diesel engine is a bread earner for Skoda, and all their diesel cars bring in more volumes than the petrol ones.
Made very little sense to me that Skoda will first launch the petrol variant and then come up with diesel.

Maybe they might be scared to launch the diesel first considering the pricing that they might have in mind. Petrol would be cheaper by at least a couple of lacs i believe.

Oh yes sorry did not notice the flippy key part.

Thanks for the info on the petrol L&K, is it the same 1.8tsi engine with the same tune as the Octavia? Do you have anymore pictures or info on the L&K, please do post if possible. We own a Superb 3.6L V6 in the family which is due for replacement and in the next generation maybe only the 1.8tsi L&K would be relatively closest to it. Looking forward to book one as soon as available.

The Octavia Anniversary edition which comes with the start/stop button probably has this type of key without the flip-key. Perhaps an owner can confirm.

For current Octavia owners, the extra bit of chrome on the key can be swapped. It is sold as a separate part.

re: Scoop! Third-gen Skoda Superb spotted testing in India EDIT: Launched at Rs. 22.68 lakhs!

Three new videos released by Skoda India - I don't think even cars from a class above will have this much space and features! I like their tag-line - "Best in Next Class" :-)

L&K Version has HUGE number of features

Skoda Superb - Design

Skoda Superb - Safety and Performance

Looks like we get a slightly detuned 130 kW (178 BHP) version instead of 190 BHP offered in EU

For Petrol the same 132 kW (180 BHP) version used in Octavia is retained.
  1. Bi-Xenon Adaptive Frontlights
  2. Rear-view Camera
  3. Auto Hold Parking Brake
  4. Driver Fatigue Detection
  5. 8-Airbags
  6. 7-Speed DSG

Skoda Superb - Comfort and Convenience

  1. Panaromic Sunroof
  2. Ventilated Front Seats
  3. Piano Black Decor with Ambient Lighting
  4. 3-Zone Climatronic AC, Smartlink Connectivity (Apple Airplay shown, but I am sure it has Android Auto too)
  5. 12 Speakers Canton Power System
  6. Boarding Smart Lamps
  7. Boss Button (adjust the recline and position of passenger seat from rear, electronically)
  8. 12 way adjustable driver seat with programmable memory

If they price it well, it is going to be a runaway success!

Just saw a huge billboard of the new Superb at T3 airpot near the arrivals. Must say it seems that Skoda is going out all guns blazing with the new superb.

IMO even if they 'don't' price it well, it will still be a success

PS - Also in one of the spy pics i saw the Superb running ' HANKOOK ' tyres, can anyone confirm this ?

Nice clean lines and a good road presence. Somehow the alloys do not look classy. I guess we are so used to seeing the diamond cut alloys now a days. Looks like this car is testing with a seriously loaded boot?
