Maruti to launch new Alto 800 in December, diesel variant likely.

The new Alto could also get the two-cylinder 800cc diesel engine developed by Suzuki Japan and currently powering the recently launched diesel Celerio hatchback, which delivers a segment-best ARAI certified 27.62kpl. The Alto 800 competes with the Datsun Go and the Hyundai Eon in the entry hatchback segment.

Is this car a minor rework of the current-gen Alto or is it based on a new platform? The current-gen was launched around 3 years back, it would surprising if Maruti launched a completely new Alto so soon considering their usual product cycles.

I think it would be only the engine not anything else. Still would the body shell be able to with stand the vibration from that 2 cylinder engine. In Celerio it feels as if it would tear apart during idling.

I think they have to incorporate the Alto K10 body tweeks into Alto 800 as well. Current Alto800 is an eyesore, especially the front lamps and tail lamp surrounds. With minor tweeks, AltoK10 looks much better.

Maruti Suzuki Alto Diesel to Be Launched in First Half of 2016; Likely to Be Showcased at Auto Expo. AMT also expected.

While previously it was rumoured to be launching sometime in December 2015, reports now claim that Alto diesel will be launched in the first half of 2016. Being somewhat a major step for Maruti Suzuki India, we expect the car will be showcased next month at the 2016 Auto Expo in Delhi.

Other addition that is quite likely to be seen in the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Alto diesel is the 4-speed AMT gearbox that does duty in both the Alto K10 and the Celerio. What's left to be seen is that whether Maruti will pair the diesel engine to the Alto 800 or the K10 or will it come with a new nomenclature altogether.

The facelift model of Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 likely to get a revised front fascia, which will sports restyled headlamps and front grille. The front grille likely to be a completely new.

Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 would also sport a restyled interior. It might get some additional features inside the cabin to enhance the appeal.

Confused. Is it a facelift to the existing model (orange), or the all new model (Japanese Alto) - white - that will be launched? The pictures are of different models.

maybe it's the photography angle. The alto is looking more cartoonish with each iteration.

This facelift is a stop gap arrangement to keep the customer interested till they launch the JDM Alto or something completely new to rival kwid.

That front looks like a mix of Earlier Daewoo Matiz + Chevy Spark

That center console controls look like it does not like driver and moving towards front passenger.

The chrome slat in the grill has vanished making the grill more thinner, and thus also pushing out the S logo! Apart from that I do not really see any other design changes!
The dual tone interiors with beige looks nice and the grey mats are very practical. Good that all the frequently accessed areas are grey. There seems to be some changes in the storage space near the gearbox as well, with 12V port located there. The current model has 12V port near the steering column.
Apart from this, everything else is the same old model.
Can we expect some new exterior colours at least?

The interiors seem to be a direct lift from the current K10! Although I am sure base 800 variants will have sparse interiors similar to the old variant.
