Re: Renault Duster facelift spotted testing in India

Any idea if the face lifted version will be launched by Diwali. We are in the market for SUV and were almost sold on the Creta. But on test drive the car felt really overpriced. Suspension setup of the Duster feels leagues ahead of the Creta. this is one area which is tilting us in favor of the duster

Hope Renault improves the interiors;

Re: Renault Duster facelift spotted testing in India

Looks like there are definitely a few of us who rejected the Creta for the exact reasons you mentioned below.

I don't think face lifted version would be made available for Diwali, for I think they would launch it along with the AMT version in the first quarter of next year. This is my guess and I could be wrong. If you are not in a hurry like me, I think the wait for updated Duster would definitely be worth it.

Re: Renault Duster facelift spotted testing in India

I am wondering if this is too little too late. In my view even the external design though quirky was never the real put off, it was the low quality interiors which really were a turn off. So unless Renault does a real improvement on the inside, they will continue to have a disadvantage against Creta.

Can we have an automatic climate control please?
Considering that the cars half its price are offering one now.

Re: Renault Duster facelift spotted testing in India

Out of the lot, Scross has the segment best interiors with soft dash, Creta has the looks, Duster has the ruggedness.

But, Duster is a class apart from the other two. Duster looks almost close to an SUV, Creta is an urban crossover and Scross is an over grown hatch.

I guess Renault will continue with the SUVish looks and the same interiors. They however may include a few gadgets. Pricing is always a factor, you increase the gadgets, improve the plastics and we are looking at an 18L on road Bengaluru.

Renault Duster- face lift spied on test again!

Quote:
This new Duster will probably be displayed at the 2016 Auto Expo, and apart from a few cosmetic changes, the biggest update could be a 5-speed AMT mated to the 110PS 1.5-litre diesel engine.

On the outside, the 2016 Duster’s front and rear end will get updates similar to the Duster that was launched in Brazil. The front gets new headlights and a slightly reworked bumper with a new grille, while the rear end gets an updated bumper along with new LED tail lamps. The 2016 Duster will also get a new set of five-spoke 16-inch alloys and reworked roof rail

Re: Renault Duster facelift spotted testing in India

Any idea how badly the Renault factory was affected during the recent floods. If there was severe impact, it may affect the production for the update which will in turn delay the launch /deliveries even if they display at Auto Expo.

If there are no major changes in the interiors though I may to look around again.

I hope that with the ban on diesel vehicles in Delhi, Renault brings in the new 1.2L Turbo Petrol DCe engine that was unveiled with the Dacia Duster last year.

Re: Renault Duster facelift spotted testing in India

Duster facelift spied before its unveiling, next month. Expect a March 2016 launch

Quote:
Renault will not offer the dual-clutch six-speed automatic gearbox but will bring in the new Easy-R AMT gearbox, which will also help to price it competitively. Whilst the DCT will offer a far smoother drive than the AMT, the cost difference between the two transmissions was working out to upwards of Rs two lakh to the car buyer, according to company sources. This will be the first Renault-badged product to come with an automated manual gearbox, globally.

Re: Renault Duster facelift spotted testing in India

Why has Renault moved from DCT to AMT for India? They could have launched the torque converter gear box instead. The 1.5L Duster is by no means cheap and to offer an AMT in a car costing 11-12 Lakhs is lazy & greedy at the same time!

Precisely! Duster is an over priced car because of Renault's greed and now they are in a very dangerous territory, pricewise. Bringing the DCT will make this car very seriously overpriced for what it offers. Imagine a car costing almost 20L, with that kind of an interior and feature set.

What I don't understand is why can't they launch it with a torque converter or traditional auto gear box or even a CVT? I am not able to understand the reason behind falling from a DCT to an AMT for a car costing over a million bucks.

As indicated in volkman's post, if difference between conventional AT and AMT is more than 2 lakhs for the end customers, then I would consider the AMT model, much like considering SCross 1.3 over 1.6.
However, it all depends on the extent of 'greed' on part of Renault while pricing it.
