Chevrolet is rumoured to be readying an updated version of the Cruze sedan for India. The refreshed car is likely to get cosmetic changes and additional equipment.

The cosmetic changes to the Cruze are likely to include a new grille, new headlamps with DRLs, reworked front bumper with redesigned fog lamp housings and tweaked tail lamps.

Along with the cosmetic changes, Chevrolet is expected to equip the Cruze with its MyLink infotainment system with a 7-inch touchscreen display, smartphone integration, navigation and multiple connectivity.

The Cruze is not expected to get any mechanical changes It will continue with the 2.0-litre, VCDi engine, which produces 166 PS @ 3800 rpm and 380 Nm of torque @ 2000 rpm. The 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmissions from the current model will be carried over as well.

The Cruze is one of the oldest cars in the D1 segment, which also includes the Toyota Corolla Altis, Volkswagen Jetta, Hyundai Elantra, Skoda Octavia and Renault Fluence. The next-generation model is not expected to come to India before 2017. With the updates, Chevrolet will be hoping that the Cruze manages to attract more customers than it has been doing.

Chevy needs to reinvent itself in India, the future of the company is dark otherwise. These cosmetic changes in a decade old car wont bring in anything.

Though its a D1 segment car, the projection is not that of a Executive Machine. It is more a booster rocket and that does not go well among middle age executives; the younger lot use to like this machine but for them the "being arrived" feeling is offered by entry level German cars, which operate at slightly higher price bracket, yet the impact on EMIs is not much.

Cruze has to go and the company should consider a fresh machine for the D1 slot to get some business.

Won't fly with customers who are well aware that the next-generation Cruze is already out internationally! This is basically GM's way of finishing off whatever kits it still has of the old Cruze.

With premium sedans, 5 years is the maximum sales window they can hope for. It's all downhill after that. Customers paying top rupee want fresh products.

I quite like the looks but as GTO says it's not going to set the sales charts afire.

My June 2011 LT with 68k on the clock still runs like new with no rattles, no breakdowns and goes like a scalded cat after 1750 rpm :-).

One of the biggest under rated car. But its not because the market is immature that this is under rated but because of its inherent faults and lack of solutions present.I have seen a car replacing its fuel pump 3 times and the customer got fed up and sold it. Word of mouth is so strong that people just started drooling over it and buying some other product.
GM has come out aggressively on advts and new initiatives. Lets hope for the best.
